FIONA GOES TO JUDY’S

After a weekend stuck in work the Judy’s fair was a welcome event. Quite the regular to the fair, it’s something I always adapt plans for when it comes to Glasgow. I even go as far as to stay in the night before to make sure I get out of bed in time for the early finds. Getting a wee feature of my photo from my last visit, advertising the Glasgow event may have encouraged me all the more though. It was a lovely surprise and who doesn’t love a wee compliment regarding style?

Wasps Artist’s Studios at the Briggait makes the perfect setting for a vintage fair with its Victorian courtyard and art deco style windows The sounds of “Lord Holyrude” and his gramophone making it all the better. Nothing quite beats a wee record set.

Just £2 got you into this wonderland of vintage [free to come and go as you please].There was jewellery in abundance, sales rails, psychedelic patterns, furs, vintage luggage, everything under one roof. AFFORDABLE was the apt name for the event! I came nowhere close to breaking the bank.

Also the sellers are some of the friendliest around and they’re more than willing to assist you or have a wee chat about their stock. You’ll sometimes get the odd wee discount thrown your way when you have multiple purchases from the one vendor.

And I haven’t even begun on the cake stall! Put it this way, I would be more than willing to sacrifice the calorie intake for some of those baked delights.

I’ll just have to make do with showing my photo from the last visit since I never got a snap before I went out today. Marion Donaldson dress from ‘Calling All Hipsters Vintage’, coat sourced from ebay. Similar could be found under the search of ‘princess coat’ or ‘afghan coat’.

So how about a wee look at my finds from today?

Vintage 70s dress with short butterfly sleeves. I’m thinking of possibly making this into a mini but I’m not entirely sure yet.

Vintage 60s Handmade dress with daisy trim. A simple little piece which could work as a day into night outfit.

Vintage 70s dress with some seriously impressive psychedelic patterns. Styling wise I will probably stay low key and stick to a long necklace or short collarbone length and let the print take the floor.

A simple little 60s mod style mini which will be perfect for when I’m back at uni. It will inject some colour into those bleak days of dissertation writing and it will go perfect with black or white tights.

60s vibrant green PVC handbag. So mibby it is going to limited in its outfit combinations but it was a love at first sight kinda thing.

60s clutch shoulder bag. Ideal for nights out and absolute bonus … this one isn’t a chain strap, so it won’t take half my hair with it.
