IT was a night of raw energy, high kicks and quivering lip.
John Newman oozed suaveness, wearing a white and black short sleeved tux-styled jacket and new, sexier, tousled wet-look hair. The band, wearing white and black smart jackets and shirts and backing singers wearing black and white chequered playsuits oozed slick sophistication and Newman’s high octane energy and class act on stage wowed us again and again.
The singer made reference to the extreme heat in Edinburgh’s Corn Exchange on Saturday night – very evident when he removed his jacket to reveal a soaking shirt.
Newman has the ability to put everything into a song and then give a look of ‘there you go, that’s what I just gave you’ to the audience who lapped it up with rapturous applause.
Newman then responds each time with a smile of total appreciation.
There are no strings attached to this untamed artist who was unleashed with an electrifying energy.
Newman was a power to be reckoned with and leaving ‘Love Me Again’ until the encore was pure genius – what a high to leave on.
