Cordor, Cyril (4 April 1978). "Lemar - Music Biography, Credits and Discography". AllMusic . Retrieved 15 December 2012. Lemar was most notably brought to public attention on the BBC's Fame Academy in 2002, a combination of a talent quest and reality television show. He made the finals of the show winning plaudits for his version of " Let's Stay Together" by Al Green and singing a duet with Lionel Richie on " Easy". While he ended up finishing third in the show, which was won by David Sneddon, he caught the eye of fellow British soul singer Beverley Knight, who invited him to sing a duet with her during her concert at the Hammersmith Apollo. It’s a winning formula that’s clear from the opening beats of lead single Future Love; an upbeat pop number that’s both nostalgic and current in its sound, and an indication of the direction of the record as a whole. Speaking exclusively in RETROPOP’s April 2023 edition, he said of the project: “I didn’t want to go so modern that people think, ‘Oh, you’re just trying to keep up with whatever the new sound is.’ In 2018, Lemar was a contestant on the tenth series of Dancing on Ice, replacing Monty Panesar; his ice skating partner was Melody Le Moal. Lemar survived three skate offs, beating Candice Brown, Stephanie Waring and Perri Shakes-Drayton. On 11 February, he was voted off after ending up in the skate off for a fourth time with Donna Air.Lemar is a lifelong Spurs fan (Photo by Justin Setterfield/Getty Images) Is being a glass-half-full guy testing when you support Spurs? He is also one of the artists included on Band Aid 20's single " Do They Know It's Christmas?". [1]

It’s preceded by the eighties-inspired funk single Future Love, with Lemar sharing: “With this new album, I wanted to make something for anyone who ever bought [debut album] ‘Dedicated’, as this year is 20 years since its release. In support of the album and his latest career milestone, Lemar will return to the stage with two special gigs in Manchester and London on April 27 and 28.Marking the first original release from the Dance (With U) hitmaker in over a decade, the LP also features the single Future Love and is due later this month. In early November 2004, Lemar released his first single from the album Time to Grow. " If There's Any Justice" reached number three on the UK Singles Chart, and has become one of Lemar's most recognised songs. [1] Time to Grow was released following the single and peaked at number 8 on the UK Albums Chart, to date, the album has been certificated 2× Platinum by the BPI. [1] Two other singles were released from the album, " Time to Grow" and " Don't Give It Up". [1] It was more excitement sprinkled with a healthy amount of fear. Because Dance (With U) was the first song from my first session ever, and the reaction from the label was so positive, they felt like they had their lead single prior to me recording the rest of the album. I thought I’d like to make something for the people who got behind that album, something that they would appreciate and like. That’s really reflected in the first single Future Love.

Use italics (lyric) and bold (lyric) to distinguish between different vocalists in the same song part With this new album, I wanted to make something for anyone who ever bought ‘Dedicated’, as this year is 20 years since its release,” he shares. “I thought I’d like to make something for the people who got behind that album, something that they would appreciate and like.” I had recorded only one song but I called him so much he just said, ‘OK, let’s do it. You’re irritating me now.’ I went down and performed, and it was a really good reception, so word got around. Did you feel a lot of pressure recording your first album, Dedicated, after the success of Dance (With U) and the hype from Fame Academy?I find it very hard to switch off. I’m a bit of a workaholic. When I’m asleep I switch off. That works. Apart from that it’s just doing the stuff that matters with my kids and my wife. Also my dad has had a bit of a rough patch, so whenever I can I try to spend a lot of time with him. It’s an overall direction that succeeds in bringing his sound up to date while remaining authentic to who he is as an artist. As he explains: “It’s very, very personal. It doesn’t get more ‘me’ than this musically. The way this album was written and the way it came to fruition, I don’t think it could have been a purer process than this one.” Lemar: Invincible (New Single)". There-view.tumblr.com.
