Description

For operations in Northern Ireland the standard British Army Steel Helmet, Universal Mk III, was issued with a perspex visor to protect the wearer's face from projectiles. Leather RAF B Type flying helmets were also utilised, particularly by 11 SAS Battalion during 1940, before the widespread introduction of specialised training and steel helmets. This type of flying helmet continued in use for a few months and was worn by members of the battalion for Operation Colossus in February 1941.

A scrim will appear nearly transparent if a scene behind it is lit, but there is no light on the scrim. The bobbinet/bobbinette is a type of scrim that has a hexagonal hole shape and comes in a variety of hole sizes. It is used for a number of lighting effects in the film and theatre industries. They are made from lightweight materials such as Kevlar or carbon fibre, and some are fitted with a visor to protect your face. Fast Helmets provide good hearing protection and communication and can also be fitted with night vision goggles alongside headlamps, pistol torches and goggles. Bump HelmetsScrims have seen extensive use in theatre. There are several types used for special effects. The variety typically used for special effects is called sharkstooth scrim. However, in theater a scrim can refer to any such thin screen, and is made out of a wide variety of materials. Sharkstooth scrim is woven and earns its name because the weave resembles a set of triangles that resemble a shark's teeth with openings similar in size to a window screen's. Scrim is also used in clothing, usually covering the face or head. This allows the wearer to see out, while preventing others from seeing in. This may also be combined with camouflage to completely hide a person, such as a sniper.

A scrim is a woven material, either finely woven lightweight fabric widely used in theatre, or a heavy, coarse woven material used for reinforcement in both building and canvasmaking. A scrim will appear entirely opaque if everything behind it is unlit and the scrim itself is grazed by light from the sides or from above. The standard issue steel helmet proved unwieldy and dangerous for parachuting due to its large rim and rubber was sourced to fashion rudimentary protective helmets, commonly referred to as the “Flash Gordon” due to their resemblance to the helmets in the movies of the same name. When it comes to choosing an appropriate airsoft helmet, there a range of types, styles and colours to choose from. There is a huge array of airsoft accessories that can be connected to your fast or bump helmet. Some of the most popular attachments include :

A scrim was an integral part of the Beijing Olympic Stadium in Beijing. It was the screen running around the top of the stadium during the opening ceremonies on which all kinds of scenes were projected. Li Ning ran around it just before the cauldron lighting for 2008 Summer Olympics. Our helmet camo scrim derives from the same principle, but we made the cut much more complex to add depth and texture, making it even more effective and stretchy to fit most helmets on the market. We also provide tethering tabs so the net doesn't just ripped off your helmet in the situation it gets caught on something.

Some of the items we sell are age restricted by law. These are identified as such within the item descriptions. A scrim or gauze is often a very light textile made from cotton, or sometimes flax or other materials. It is lightweight and translucent, which means it is often used for making curtains. The fabric can also be used for bookbinding and upholstery.

Bump helmets are very popular because they offer good protection from BB’s. Most have foam inserts and velcro panels to make sure your head fits snugly and is comfortable to wear during your skirmish. The first issued steel helmet for operations was the “Helmet, Steel, ‘P’ Type”, which was based on the simple steel exterior, and internal domed leather lined design of the German Fallschirmjaeger helmet, but with the addition of an exterior hard rubber rim, with a large lip at the rear. It also had brown leather straps for the chin strap. Issued from 1941 in limited numbers, it can be seen in use from Operation Biting through to North Africa. However, photographic records indicate that a few veterans hung onto their “P” types well into later campaigns.
