Capture Moments: Each of the 36 exposures on this roll is an opportunity to capture moments that resonate, creating a visual narrative that's uniquely yours. PORTRA Films give you beautifully matched prints across all speeds and formats, due to Single-Channel Printing Technology. Kodak Portra 400 is an ISO 400/27° daylight-balanced professional colour negative films introduced in 1998 and made originally for portrait and wedding applications. The Portra 400 is available in 36 exposures for 35mm-format cameras, as well as other formats such as 120 (pro pack), 4x5, 4x10, 5x7, 8x10, 11x14, and 20x24. No matter how bad you think the shoot goes, this film performs on the job, and renders beautiful tones post dev/scanned.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. In that same tradition, the new PORTRA 400 Film is the ideal choice for portrait and fashion photography, as well as for nature, travel and outdoor photography, where the action is fast or the lighting can't be controlled. By setting my light meter to 320 ISO it helps me stay more in the green box below, erring on the side of overexposure, which film can handle a lot better than being underexposed (see the left muddy size of the chart below). Wide exposure latitude: The film has a wide exposure latitude, which means it can handle a wide range of lighting conditions.

Ask around the internet for everyone's favorite film rolls, and it wouldn't take long before you hear the mention of the Kodak Portra 400. Kodak Portra 400 provides genuinely excellent film latitude, equal to, or better than that offered by Fuji’s Pro 400H line of films. Sure, this is not incredibly surprising to see with a 400-ISO film, but I think the consistency of tone that the Portra 400 manages to deliver under different exposures is one worth appraising. Used this in a Pentacon Six (I can only dream of owning a Hasselblad or Bronnie) and the results were brilliant.I do not recommend portra for indoor flash photography with a point and shoot camera because I have found that my pictures turn out more yellow than expected because of white balance issues.

with finer grain and an emulsion overcoat specially designed for scanners, PORTRA Films reproduce beautifully. Okay, you’ve chosen the right size film, you’ve loaded up your camera, set your light meter to 320 and you’re ready to go. The Kodak Portra 400 Colour Film / 35mm is a colour negative film great for portraits, fashion and commercial shoots. If it helps paint a better picture, the Portra 400 surely produces finer grain than its counterpart, the Ultramax 400 , which is a part of the company's line of Everyday Film.Yes, the images have fine grain, but with the tone, color balance and contrast that the Portra 400 produce, it is nearly impossible for the images to come out lacking characteristics.
