The Andrew James Coffee Grinder is completely manually operated without the addition of a preset grind selector. Therefore, it's important to follow the instruction manual for recommended timings for the grind you're after. It's very easy to use and is a 'no frills' performer. In our tests, it ground beans fairly evenly but we found it did require a few shakes to assist it! It can also only grind for a maximum of 30 seconds at a time, so it's only worth buying if you're requiring small amounts ground at a time rather than in one go. The hot plate is probably the biggest factor here, and contrary to popular belief, they’re not going to keep your coffee hot and fresh all day. The glass carafe that comes with this coffee maker will hold 1.5L, which is equivalent to around 12 normal cups of coffee. You can use the jug to fill the water tank in the machine then set it away to make as many cups as you need, from 2 to 12 in 2 cup intervals.
