Description

He made origami models to cheer up the sick patients, but eventually fell ill himself and was sent back to Japan. We have seen, too, how, apart from his technique, his artistic and creative skills have developed and matured.

This beautiful book is the fi rst comprehensive survey of the extraordinary work of Akira Yoshizawa. He has strong views about the nature of folding and in particular holds that paperfolding should be something more than merely a geometrical and technical accomplishment.Great book really good pictures very interesting to read , really nice easy to follow pattern for all levels and really amazing origami designs .

Yoshizawa was clearly very devoutly attached to this temple in Kyoto, even though he lives many miles away in the Tokyo area As we passed through the burial ground which surrounded the temple, we noticed a plot marked as reserved for him. Starts to work in a foundry (or heavy machine factory) as apprentice (or steel blacksmith) and finally he will teach, to the new employees, basic geometry required for the work and for that end he will use origami. But not so good for progression to advanced level as would have folded most/similar projects before and no help being given to enable higher achievement. From a little exhibition in Utsunomiya Education Hall, in connexion with an educational congress, the Toshigi district Teacher’s Association recognizes Yoshizawa’s work as creative and educational art. He served as a bridge between past and present--between the ancient traditional craft and the development of origami as a contemporary practice--inventing new techniques and in preserving the traditional Japanese forms. He served as a bridge between past and present-between the ancient traditional craft and the development of origami as a modern practice-in terms of inventing new techniques and in preserving the traditional Japanese forms. Fortunately, because of the convention of symbols for folding instructions that Yoshizawa himself introduced, his books can be understood and enjoyed by all folders notwithstanding all barriers of language. Yoshizawa gave a short speech of welcome and I, followed by Jean Baden-Gilette and GiovannI Maltagliati replied and said how honoured and happy we were to be there.
