WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE CITIES? Thurs 12th -15th November

WHAT’S GOING ON THIS WEEKEND? by Nicole Heaney & Liam Menzies

GLASGOW:

Glasgow Christmas Market, Fri 13th Nov – Sun 20th Dec, St Enoch Square,

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas if you half close your eyes, ignore the weather and put some Christmasey music on in the background. Or…pop down to St Enoch Square and get stuck into the festive spirit with some good old mulled wine, beer and Bratwurst. Vendors galore will be selling all sorts of gifts and trinkets, times tbc.

Starting Again… A New Life In Scotland, Thurs 12th – Mon 30thNov, Kibble Palace, free

starting-again-a-new-life-in-scotland-lst186439

A powerful exhibition by Conor Ashleigh, Starting Again … A New Life in Scotland, captures the experiences of refugee families as they begin a new life in Glasgow. The families were forced to flee their homes and endured long periods of separation before being reunited in Scotland. The exhibition explores their experiences of separation, reunion and building a new life in a different country. With the memories of Remembrance still looming it makes you think how the plight is similar to World War two refugees who had nowhere to go until many countries took them in and they were given a home of their own.
