What’s On: 20th-27th December by Kerry Harkin
If you’re not just spending time with family by slouching about watching films – which I’m not dissing as it’s the best veggy thing to be had all Christmas – here are some alternative things to do to keep you alive over the Winter hols:
RollerStop Roller Rink, Glasgow, 23rd December – 5th Jan
Fun you say – where do I sign up? It’s fun with no catch… well, possibly some guaranteed mayhem if you can’t skate. Have a giggle while trying to keep your balance, navigate around the rink and have a good time. It’s a great day out with friends and family.
Tickets – £8-£11 (Students £6-£9)
Game Night Mondays – The Scaramouche, Elderslie Street, Glasgow, 21st December, free
Get in touch with you inner child and play those retro board games you used to love. They’ve even got giant Jenga or snakes and ladders, just for that extra giant fun. Why should kids have all the fun and why should we be stuck with the boring adult label? Rebel my children….
Cabaret Show – Wild Cabaret and Wicked Lounge, Glasgow, 20th & 27th December
There’s singing, dancing, comedy and aerial acrobatics – so I can use the word literally here. There is literally something for everyone! Bring your friends, family and even strangers. It will be a night to remember. Oh, and, of course, there’s good food as well. That’s always a bonus.
Tickets- £14.95 (set lunch); £24.50 (set evening meal) £14.95 (set lunch); £24.50 (set evening meal).
Big Mouth Mondays – Henry’s Cellar Bar, Edinburgh, 21st December, free
An open mic night where all talents are welcome. Whether you’re good at comedy, music or theatre, this is the place for you. And if you’re not, well go along anyway and support those who want to reveal their talent. It’ll be a good laugh, that’s for sure.
Bar Boot Sale – Paradise Palms, Edinburgh, 20th & 27th December, free
It’s like a car boot sale but without all the hassle, muddy fields and early mornings that no one really likes. It’s all about alcohol and food, which I know most of us will absolutely love.
Game On! – Sofia’s, Edinburgh, 21st December, free
If you like board games, party games or games that will test your skills, then this is the place for you. There are prizes to be one for all you competitive ones out there and challenges for all those who love to be tested. So Sherlock, it’s not easy to figure out where you should be?
Have a great Christmas and Hogmanay and see you early next year – which is obviously just a couple of weeks away but sounds like it’s so much further away when it’s ‘next year’. Bye 2015 🙂
