Music is highly subjective to each individuals taste so trying to rate this as the best "Faces" album is just silly! A disillusioned Ronnie Lane left the band in 1973; [3] one reason given later for his departure was frustration over not having more opportunities to sing lead vocals. This practice led to increased murmurings of discontent in some quarters that Stewart's management was keeping the best Faces studio performances for Stewart's solo projects, to the detriment of the band as a unit.

Bolstered somewhat by lead singer Rod Stewart 's recent solo success with "Maggie May", it was their most successful album worldwide, peaking at No. In June 2013, speaking in an interview on YouTube, Kenney Jones confirmed the band's intention to reunite with Stewart for a tour in 2014.

During 2004 and early 2005 the surviving Faces had several near-reunions, none of which featured more than three members at the same time: In May 2004 Kenney Jones and Ronnie Wood joined Ian McLagan on stage at his concert at The Mean Fiddler in London. I believe that The Faces (and another band, Free) could have been so big if ONLY they had really filled their potential. Nothing entirely essential, but the Faces are seeming more like a group that is just sorta acceptable to have nestled within your collection. The opener 'Bad In Ruin' was simply one of the best rockers they ever recorded (and should have been released as a single).

A somewhat plodding, blues number, 'Tell Everybody' had some nice lyrics (Lane was always a sucker for the joys of domestic bliss), though the song simply never gathered much energy - Ian McLagan's Hammond solo probably provided song's the highlight. This album is good, not brilliant but, shows lots of potential and was soon to be eclipsed by "A Nod's As Good As A Wink To A Blind Horse" which WAS the pinnacle of their short-lived success and life as a band. Meanwhile, "Woody was the guy's guy, with a cigarette stuck in his mouth or between the fingers of his right fist, eyes blinking continually with concentration as he worried the guitar, and sang and camped it up with Rod. Later that summer Wood and Stewart parted ways with Beck and joined Lane, McLagan and Jones full-time. Fissinger’s musical approach is refreshingly uncomplicated, allowing the beauty of the song’s simplicity to shine through. In 2010–11 a brief reunion tour occurred with Mick Hucknall and Glen Matlock on vocals and bass respectively.

The album sleeve was originally a stitched-together facsimile of bootleg records as well as the old style 78 RPM singles, with the record label showing. This track and its non-LP instrumental B-side "Oh Lord, I'm Browned Off" were rarities among Faces collectors until they were both compiled on the Five Guys Walk into a Bar.

In the midst of all this activity, they'd reconvene later in the year to record their next effort, A Nod Is As Good As a Wink . A couple of tracks here are unnecessary, but also some really good stuff—both Bad ‘n’ Ruin and Had Me a Real Good Time are great.
