The story is very character driven and has so many fantastic characters, including the side characters. It is told from the perspectives of both Rae and Noah, who are so much fun and very enjoyable to read about. I loved all of the banter between Noah and Rae and their slow-burn romance makes the book a perfect rom-com. ❀ Hallmark Vibes Also I love that everyone totally knows I was going to love this book lmao. Everyone @ me saying this was the perfect book for me. AND YOU WERE NOT WRONG. This book got every single thing I like in romance books, so it was a no-brainer. A city girl, who happens to be a famous pop star, ends up at a small town and meets the grumpiest man ever. She feels very lonely and is tired of her celebrity lifestyle, so a bit of rest and relaxation is what she needs before her nine-month tour starts. But then her car breaks down in front of this front lawn and the owner of the house is none other than the grumpiest man ever lmao. Noah is emotionally closed-off because of a broken engagement, so his walls are way up high around his heart. BUT TRULY AMELIA BREAKS THEM DOWN EASILY BC SHE'S SO EASY TO LOVE AND SUNSHINE GIRL AND NOAH CANT HELP BUT LOVE HER SO MUCH! That's right.

This is my first book by Sarah Adams, but going in I had very high expectations given the hype surrounding “The Cheat Sheet.” Ultimately, I feel like that did this book a bit of a disservice, especially since this book is a bit different than her previous ones. Overall I liked it, and will read other books by her, namely the aforementioned Cheat Sheet, however, it didn’t blow me away like I was so hoping it would. This is supposedly based on the (wonderful) Audrey Hepburn movie “Roman Holiday,” and as someone who has watched that movie approximately 802 times, I’m confident in saying that’s an affront. Then Noah starts to see a different side of Rae Rose--she's Amelia: kindhearted and goofy, yet lonely from years in the public eye. He can't help but get close to her. Soon she'll have to return to her glamorous life on tour, but until then, Noah will show Amelia all the charming small-town experiences she's been missing, and she'll help him open his heart to more. This book tended to do what I don't like at all in any genre. So it wasn't that this was a contemporary, that this didn't work for me. It was that it had aspects that I have found I don't personally like seeing in any book, and whether this was a fantasy, or a contemporary; I don't think I would have liked it either way.

She fleshes out her characters and makes them feel so real, like I truly know them and their history, and I love the way she depicts the heart-wrenching scenes between Dunni and Obinna in such a way that they are intensely moving and realistic, but never melodramatic. Sarah Adam just blew me completely away. I was expecting this to be good but not THIS good. Amazing and incredible. but a side effect of being the one who listens and comforts is that people rarely offer to listen or comfort me.” Noah reluctantly lets her stay at his guest room. I’m a big Audrey Hepburn fan too, so when I saw Hepburn and Roman Holiday mentioned in the synopsis for Adams’ new book, When in Rome, I couldn’t resist reading it.
