Indi Golf StingRay TT Lob Wedge (60)
- Brand: Unbranded
Description
After learning about the different models and how they perform during the Indi Golf Product Clinic, I was completely sold on the benefits these wedges would provide for my golf game. A lot of that is because of how I play my wedges around the greens, but I found my comfort level with these so much faster than I did with the FLX grinds. If you strike the ball down and back in your stance then the club will make the ball spin just like the videos show.
I do not have a swingweighgt machine handy so I can't say what it's at for sure, but there is definitely some beef to the head. Just about every recreational golfer wants more spin from their wedges, and the Indi Golf Stingray TT delivers just that. They’ve been meticulously tested and offer up plenty of options for you to find your preferred set up.
I could even tell on these type of shots just how much quicker the ball was stopping, rather than what I normally see with more roll out. I’ve had such success with the 60 that I personally reached out to Indi Golf for the matching wedges to replace two of my old ones and fill the gaps better with different lofts. Having spent time with both the original StingRay and now the TT version, there still are those certain aspects that make this wedge an attractive option.
ScoopBack technology makes off center hits feel better, go straighter, spin more, and end up closer to the hole. For instance, if you are 75 yards on with a 56 deg on a receptive green, you might hit one with 10,000rpm with your standard wedge and watch it hit, bounce, and suck back to where it landed or even a foot in front of your pitch mark. Since both sets featured fresh grooves, I felt it would be fun to record some comparison data on a Foresight GC2 for a mid-range approach shot with the 56°. Combine the extra spin with quality feel and a smartly designed sole, and you have a wedge that should end up in more players’ bags.If you are a recreational golfer looking to add some extra “stopping power” to your game, the StingRay wedges could help you put up some great scores.
Its forgiveness is useful for off-center strikes; seeing the ball travel just as far and with as much spin as if I flushed it was a welcome sight. It’s USGA-approved yet “spins 25 percent more than competitor wedges,” says Rob Lang, the company’s general manager.I took it out to the chipping green after the range session and really love the feel there with the fresh Pro V1x sleeve I brought. In one way of thinking, it’s not the easiest for me to tell if I hit it right on the button, or off towards the toe (my miss). Matt has worked in nearly every job in the golf industry from club fitting to instruction to writing and speaking.
The other Indi golf wedge is the ATK; the ATK is a wide sole design with heel, toe, and back edge relief. With the clean look, impressive spin, and great feel, this is a wedge that works for a wide range of players. With a little extra of that material in the high toe section, shots that are struck in that vicinity when there is an open face, still come out with plenty of pop, which helps when in a bunker. I have never been one to rely on high spin on approach shots, but with this one, I needed to change my process a bit. The red paintfill portion in Stingray appears like they were shooting for Scott cherry bomb red, but they did not use enough paint and you can see silver through in some of the letters.Shots with the stingray seem to want flight in at lower trajectory vs my gamer which I hit a bit of a floater.
