About this deal

If she tells him she loves him, he might be willing to try instead of going back to Donatella, and perhaps Honora will be able to reverse not only Apollo’s curse but Jacks’s, too. When I read the final few chapters, my jaw was open, my eyes were watering, and I kept whispering, "oh my god" and "no" over and over. Under cover of darkness, she goes back, only to find Luc has followed her to House Slaughterwood and into the tomb, having read in the scandal sheets that Knightlinger had spotted Evangeline at LaLa’s party. When Evangeline wakes up, she finds the mirth stone in the magical clock at the heart of the inn, clouding the minds of everyone who enters, including hers and Jacks’s.

Evangeline ignores the librarian’s words, and she and Havelock, Apollo’s personal guard, continue looking for remedies for Apollo. She will be married to Apollo but will not remember Jacks and although he will remember her, he intends to make sure their paths will never cross again. I was genuinely awed and horrified by his actions and all of these things he did to Evangeline were awful.

tbh she can tell me it was blond right to my face and i would hear “brown” because delusion is not a temporary state of mind, it is the way of life. I, for one, devoured all 400 pages in a single day, sacrificing sleep and productivity so that I might see what, if any, resolution to the book’s events is provided. As she visits her, LaLa announces she is engaged and moving houses, even though it is her fate to be left at the altar.

Winning at love was less about succeeding in a battle and more about continuing a fight, to choose the person you loved as the one you were willing to die for, over and over. He was undoubtedly as ravishing as always and he was mostly everything I mentioned him to be in OUABH. Evangeline panics, realizing this is the Valor Arch itself, even though it is supposed to be hidden and broken. Along the way, she encounters dangers, leading to several edge-of-your-seat moments, and she uncovers some shocking truths that shed light on events from the previous book. As soon as she reads this, Chaos appears, distracts her, and disappears with the book she was reading.

The story curse was familiar with pain, but this was agony, the sort of raw grief that was only seen once in a century. To break it, Evangeline and Jacks will have to do battle with old friends, new foes, and a magic that plays with heads and hearts. Jacks takes her to a safe place, an inn in Merrywood, where magic suspends the effects of any curse, and the lashing stops. But to y’all that saw my pre-review I’m sure you got a feeling of how emotionally unstable I was after this book. I was reading out in public and I literally had to resist gawking at the book and looking like an idiot because a twist was just revealed.
