And we finish by meticulously aging our whiskey in white oak barrels with maximum char, for an unmistakable richness and signature sweetness. Maybe they’ve tried the entry-level offerings from a handful of the larger Kentucky distilleries and are looking to move up the range, but aren’t yet chasing the allocated bottles or limited editions. Knob Creek was aged for nine years until late 2016, when Beam Suntory removed the age statement from the label due to tight inventory that could not be guaranteed to be aged the full nine years. being a novice taster my first goal starting out was to be consistent so I only taste and compare when I know I am in the mood for a drink.This may sound elementary to the more experienced drinkers in the audience, but please remember that we all start somewhere.

There are notes of candy floss and nut oil, a touch of spice and dark chocolate, a little spice and charred oak. Whether there’s a dark’n’stormy on the cards or you simply want the perfect complement to a fizzy Coke, Flor de Caña 7 Years will do the job.Rye, spice and barley malt come through alongside butterscotch and vanilla, rounded the drink off perfectly. Not dominant but recognizable is the vanilla, followed by a fresh fruity note that delights the palate.
