Rose: Regarding the Miranda Keneally books, I don’t think of YA novels as romances, even when the romance is what the plot centers on. I'm pretty sure the next book's gonna be either about Garrett and Jennie, or about Adam and anyone who deserves his giant heart, and to be honest, I can't wait. He is the sweetest, most charismatic man who has an INSANELY dirty mouth, and trust me, he knows how to use it 😉😏. It seemed like the characters completely changed their personalities by like 30% and everything kinda lost its appeal to me.

Eliza: I agree that Canadian readers will likely have a different response to hockey romances than American readers because of the prevalence of hockey in the Canadian sports world. There are SO MANY swoony, tender moments, which pair perfectly with the intensity of emotion and the delicious spice. It turns out the MLB (baseball, for those who don’t know) is more diverse than you thought—40% of the athletes are people of color.And in a more contained number of pages, I think that characters would have stood out more and made more of an everlasting impression instead of being overshadowed by unnecessary drama towards the end. These might sound like issues, but if you’re in the right mood, you’ll forget about everything and just concentrate on how the romance was so good and so cute that it’s almost embarrassing.

chapters could have been easily 40 chapters and the big climax of a problem was solved in 2 chapters which didn't fit the complexity of this novel. But then I start letting my guard down, and he starts showing me pieces of himself I had no intention of seeing. I actually looked up the highest paid player in the NHL and was surprised to learn that the money they make is way less than NFL or NBA stars. We have a lot of page time with them being a couple rather than a lot of back and forth; I think a lot of people will like that about this book, but it did slow the pace at times for me personally.
