Abandoning their former comrades, D’vok and his most elite followers stole away with several packs of Daemon Engines to join Abaddon’s Black Legion. Each bike has a ranger long rifle (not getting much done from small units) and a scatter laser, and the latter is plenty of shots at good strength (6 shots at S6) but still has no AP, which isn’t a great look in this armour save economy.

The Aeldari seek to protect the World Spirit of this planet (a collection of the souls of their dead, preserved against the hungry maw of the Chaos God Slaanesh), and the Chaos Space Marines hope to exploit the World Spirit to power their infernal Daemon machines. It’s easy enough to pose a figure to make it look like it’s running or jumping, but to actually capture the feeling of momentum into a model is another thing entirely. With the jaws of a warp storm swiftly closing about them and the stakes impossibly high, desperate measures and terrible sacrifices will be required to achieve victory. The Eldritch Omens box was revealed on Christmas Day 2021 and if you play either of the factions, it was a bit of a gift!

Next we have Aeldari Rangers, which are now rocking a 2+ Ballistic Skill, rather than the 3+ in their previous iteration. Aeldari snipers are so skilled that firing from the back of a speeding jetbike is considered only a mild inconvenience.They also get an option of 1 of 2 wargear upgrades – Gloom Fields treat the unit as being in dense cover when they are shot from more than 18″ away, and Wireweave nets reduce the the charge charges against then by 2 and cause D3 mortal wounds to the charger on a 2+! For the most part, everything looks to have multiple options for modeling, and some like the Autarch have extra weapons torsos, and head options even. By then, People will still look back at Eldritch Omens and be able to say, “yeah, that was a fun box”. Before you know it Chaos Space Marines will be the new menace on the block, and you’ll be kicking yourself over not owning these dynamic sculpts. Then there’s lashings of background information on what’s transpiring on the Aeldari Exodite planet of Daethe – and how that ties into the appearance of the Great Rift and the escalating conflict in the Nachmund Gauntlet.
