It is one of those games where I feel like I could easily explain to others that had not played before. The new heroes are just as cute and amusing as their original predecessors and add great new powers to your army. Though used for quite a few actions and adding further randomness to a game that can already feel like it’s erring on the side of too random, it does make the combat – and consequently, the game – a little less predictable, though not necessarily in a bad way. Again like its stablemate (pun intended), Here to Slay’s visual design and overall production quality is hard to criticise, with wonderful illustrations and nicely designed packaging throughout.

If they win the challenge, they still get to play their card, but if you win the challenge, you get to send their card directly to the discard pile! The last card which can prevent a player from winning is the challenge card, this is played at any point to challenge an action from another player when played both players roll a dice to determine if the card is played or not, often with the challenger having a roll advantage. Those cards were the ones we had the most questions about both nights we played and it really came down to not being 100% clear on what we could and couldn’t challenge.

Modifier cards can be played on your turn or an opponent’s turn to raise or lower roll values, while challenge cards are played in response to an opponent and cause you both to roll the D6s.The version I have is the Kickstarter Exclusive version which does have some extras you won’t get in the base game. Unlike winning with hero cards, which can be destroyed or stolen by other players, once you’ve defeated a monster there is nothing that anyone can do to take it away from you. In this game, you’ll assemble a full party of heroes to slay dangerous monsters while working to avoid the sabotage of your foes. Like the neigh, sometimes success is simply about running your opponents out of their modifiers by continuing to attempt skill rolls, or rolling a number so high that their modifier cards won’t help.
