About this deal

If you like Jurassic Park, but want a way more laidback version this is definitely the manga for you! Judging by one kid's response to Suzume pointing out that birds are dinosaurs, the BAND ( Birds Are Not Dinosaurs) movement apparently still exists in this universe, despite bird-like feathered dinosaurs being alive to provide more than enough evidence for the dinosaur-bird connection.

Each chapter ends in a little (long) note from about the sciencey thing we learned about dinosaurs in the chapter. The series has been published in English as Dinosaur Sanctuary by Seven Seas Entertainment since September 27, 2022.Today we’re happy to welcome back Tommy Leung, who previously delighted you with their review of My Girlfriend is a T. While no visitors were harmed in the incident, it shocked the world and stirred controversy, killing public interest in dinosaurs and even driving Suzume's father to suicide. This is also shown by intermezzo's from the consulting paleontologist, who explains his reasoning for some depictions.

This story follows a rookie zookeeper who is newly hired at Enoshima Dinoland, a struggling dinosaur sanctuary, and the fascinating creatures who need specialized love and care! There is a little more going on too, as is hinted at by Suzume’s connection to her late father and an “incident’ spoken of in hushed tones, but that revelation will apparently have to wait for future volumes. This fascinating art style helps add a grounded feel to the manga, which plays into the book's general tone. It shows the harsh realities of zoos as entertainment, which is actually quite typical of the book; while it is very much set in a zoo, it’s not shy to show the difficulties of keeping animals in captivity, for both the animals and the human keepers. The series has a few key features which really make me love it: The dinosaurs are treated as genuine characters in their own right, with distinct personalities, while also not anthropomorphising them; it celebrates them for the creatures they are.In the second chapter, he and Suzume find the zoo's male Troodon suffering some heat stroke because the exhibit's air conditioning failed. The first few chapters have already been released as volumes, and they've been published in English too, thanks to Seven Seas Entertainment. First on the list is Igarashi Keisuke, and Suzume will learn what makes him tick as they care for the park’s pachycephalosaurs and stegosaurs. There might be a few things in the manga that dinosaur or palaeontology nerds who are neck-deep in the literature might have quibbles about. It's too easy to portray dinosaurs as just "terrible lizards" when there's so much more too them than just that, as is the case with any living creature.
