About this deal

I`ve just spoken to the friend who did the job and he`s going to stick his code reader on it and get a more accurate diagnosis. Went out to see if it was still showing the faulty, no flashing light and nothing in the vehicle status screen. I connected a 4 prong generator inlet to a 2 breaker panel box using an 8/3 service wire (2 hots, a ground, and neutral). It can also datalog sensor outputs and recode the various modules (central convenience unit etc) on the car. Took te car a run to carry out a forced regen and when i started driving normally on the way home the glow plug light started flashing saying visit garage!

When it was serviced about 1,000 miles ago, the mechnic (independent) mentioned that the fuel filter housing had some kind of crack in it, but wasn't leaking so he was happy to re-fit it. FYI, in the emergency mode, my Yeti felt utterly gutless - as if the Turbo charger was contributing nothing. It transpires that as well as the flashing glow plug light another red light is on (possibly the EML) is also on! When I was little my grandfather had a small red plug adaptor that we would plug the lite brite into to make it flash. Just started having the same problem with mine (96 Quattro 170 tdi - 51k) Got a local garage to do a code check and got 12600 - Intake Manifold and P3138 - MIL On (i think this is just warning light). If it does it again will give Skoda breakdown peeps a ring as the car is under able when it’s flashing. Coil/sparkplug/engine management light comes on and the car goes into limp home mode, this started after I put petrol in it and drive it for 2 mins, it has since been flushed and cleaned (nothing replaced) but I'm now having this problem.

I've never done this as mines a post 99 model and the glow plug just flashes the sequence, so unfortunately I can't be of anymore help. If you fill out your profile with a more useful "location" then those who have access to VCDS in your area may be able to offer you some assistance. Theres no way I could tackle changing a fuel filter, it took me all morning fitting my LED indicator bulbs. Most of the alternatives when this is lit seem to be related to either fuel system or emissions system faults. The fuel filter was changed about 4 months ago by a mechanic friend with a genuine Honda part and I had just topped up with a full tank of V Power. You should just be able to do it with a voltmeter (available cheaply if you haven't got one and useful for all sorts of stuff) hooked up as shown in the diagram.
