Legendary Forests is a quick (under 20 minutes) tile-laying game that is much better with this theme than the Japanese version. Additionally, players will then choose a scoring token that will be placed on a portion of the forest. You could place a Yellow Tree token in the Yellow Zone of your choice, but not in a Zone of a different color. If a Tree token is in a Closed Zone, it scores victory points equal to twice the number of Full-Runes in that Zone. A more cut-throat player might even use the tree tokens near the end of the game to keep another player from getting points.If a color is no longer available from the supply, then you cannot take any more Tree tokens of that color. I’ve welcomed this new brand of games, as they open up a lot of different themes I never would’ve considered in the past.

At the end of the game I looked at each person’s forest to see how different they were even though we were all playing the same tile each round. It’s darn pretty to look at, pleasing to play, and won’t leave you hating your opponents by the end of it. At first, it felt a little strange that the Architect is ‘in charge’ but you quickly realise all players have equal opportunities. Be careful not to mix up your unplayed World tiles with the ones you have already added to your Planet.This is pretty hard to do, to be honest, but towards the end of the game you might be able to cost another player a few points by taking a tree that would have let them score. I don’t want them beating each other up and I would like to have them organized by color so setup would be faster. This phase is only triggered when the tile drawn by the Architect has a number on a light background . Once everyone knows how to play you can probably burn through games rapid fire, which would be awesome. This fills the bill nicely for those times when you’re playing with the younger set or when you want to be socializing at the same time.
