This depth will do more to protect the lenses from gathering dust, light rain and from scratching them against objects. I’m thinking with a real good dark sky view you probably would be able to see the Veil to in Cygnus with a bit of luck. However having said that they do just enough and to be honest I would rather see them making cuts in this department than making more sacrifices to the quality of the actual binocular. Seeing the iconic rings around Saturn is a great feeling, but it is difficult to see where the rings separate from the planet.
