har har), but all those being said I found myself truly drawn to the characters and really NEEDING to know what happens next! Elizabeth and Nathaniel Bonner have settled into their life together at the edge of the New-York wilderness in the winter of 1794 when Elizabeth gives birth to healthy twins. Ive recommended to these books to so many people and have been successful in in getting them interested in reading again. I found myself comparing it too much to DG's writing at first which was a mistake - they are very different authors and once I leared to appreciate Donati's style and prose and let go of my DG obsession (I bring this to every book I read! Her tart tongue and independence intrigue him as much as her looks but he knows their attraction can only lead to pain.

HNS Awards have helped discover and launch the author careers of Michel Faber, Ruth Downie, Hilary Green, Martin Sutton, Kelleigh Greenberg-Jephcott, Nikki Marmery, Margaret Skea, Warwick Cairns, Katherine Mezzacappa and Elizabeth Macneal. I wish there had been an epilogue, I fee like there is so much more to see and read and I'm struggling with how long I have to wait until I find out what Nathaniel and Elizabeth get up to next. let's face it: what is a character from a time-travel romance doing in a purely historical fiction novel? With six books, each with a hefty word count, there are twists, turns, antagonists galore, not to mention a fair share of babies, best friends and marriages to make any historical romance series lover happy. Whereas in ‘Outlander’ Black Jack Randall is a truly masochistic villain – he is a very clear bad guy to Jamie Fraser’s good guy.

If you've read INTO THE WILDERNESS or any of Sara Donati's other books, feel free to post your reactions here (whether positive or negative). But their growing bond is threatened when Martha’s mother arrives back in Paradise a decade after abandoning her daughter.Under the pen name Sara Donati I am the author of the Wilderness series, six historical novels that follow the fortunes of a group of families living in upstate New York from about 1792-1825. Interweaving the fate of the Mohawk Nation with the destiny of two lovers, Sara Donati's compelling novel creates a complex, profound, passionate portrait of an emerging America. Swanson is on the faculty of the Candler School of Theology at Emory University, and teaches spiritual formation for the Absalom Jones Center for Racial Healing in Atlanta.

In a desperate bid to save her husband, Elizabeth bundles her infants and sets out on the long trek to Montreal. Interweaving the fate of the remnants of the Mohawk Nation with the destiny of two lovers, Sara Donati's compelling novel creates a complex, profound, passionate portrait of an emerging America. This is an exciting story of what it might have been like to travel with Moses, seen through the eyes of his manservant and friend, the warrior Joshua. The novel goes on and on and on and on for so long, and although I can't say I lost interest at any point (fortunately! The down side is that this is 2 credit/book and The Outlook series is only 1 credit/book( an excellent series in the same style. I am especially thrilled at the prospect of reading more little mentions and side-notes about Gabaldon’s characters who cross-over into Donati’s world. Sorry, no turtle soup here, but there is an annual visit to a secluded waterfall cave that will keep your attention. There was a lot of staring, some bad dialogue (Our hero actually says: "You're a spinster woman, no? When the series took that trajectory Gabaldon introduced Native American’s to the storyline, and if you’re like me you especially loved the character arc of Young Ian who went on to become an Indian warrior.

I loved the setting in a small village in post-Revolutionary America, where Mohawk inhabitants and white settlers have to interact on a regular basis, with the subsequent racial tensions, prejudices, conflicts, but also loyalty and respect in some cases. Her simple role as teacher pf the village children is complicated by her burgeoning feminist leanings, conflicts with slave owners, and increasing “entanglement” with the mysterious Nathaniel Bonner. Nevertheless, there was something appealing about the book and I not only finished it, I moved on and read the rest of the series. Determined to provide schooling for all the children of the village, she soon finds herself locked in conflict with the local slave owners as well as her own family.Elizabeth Middleton, an Englishwoman, arrives in upper New York State in December 1792 with the hopes of fulfilling a lifelong dream, to be a schoolteacher. In the sudden peace that follows the storm, as families struggle to rebuild, childhood friends Martha and Daniel, Lily’s twin brother, suddenly begin to see each other in a new light. Tammy spends her days playing working in IT, crossing paths occasionally with her husband and being the “cool mom” (at least in her mind) to her teen and tween girls. My favorite book was the second one, which took place in Scotland and in which several of my favorite characters in the series were introduced: Luke and Jennet.
