After purchasing and setting up the soundbar, everything was working correctly and the JBL was connecting to my Samsung TV via Bluetooth. In reality, it doesn’t appear to change the sound much to the listener, so that seems to be a good thing – how well it works for others is another matter. The bass capabilities and sharp trebles mean you get both satisfying room-rattling sound, and crystal-clear dialogue. That said, both audio formats are capable of achieving almost similar results by providing surround sound, however, Dolby Audio allows a much wider range of input signals without overloading the connection, thus increasing compatibility.

The Pure Voice technology aims to improve the clarity of the dialog and we can say that it is heard with good definition.Interest is charged at the APR displayed however you can make additional payments or pay your balance off early at no extra cost. The top of the Bar 500 is made of plastic, with a slightly sunken middle section compared to the rest of the surface.

The satellite speakers plug into the ends of the soundbar with great ease, making a strong magnetic connection, and follow the same design language as the rest of the unit. After putting it through its paces, we were impressed with the performance of the JBL Bar 500 and its comprehensive range of features. The balance was very satisfying, and immediately immersive, exactly as a good surround sound system should be. The Samsung has a better soundstage, and it comes with a few more sound enhancement features like a graphic EQ and dialogue enhancement.

It has better center and surround performances, and it can reproduce a slightly more extended low-bass.

That’s not to say it sounds overtly flat or constrained, and the side-firing tweeters definitely help with off-axis listening.
