minutes of gushing over Steven Spielberg and how the movie Jaws inspired so many directors to get into film and so many effects artists to pursue film making. In terms of supplements this isn’t a huge upgrade over previous editions, but we still get a solid set of material. There are still the rich blue's and golden sands you'll remember in the Amity scenes, but they now have a more controlled and natural feel to them. It's shows a malicious and mean streak in the man that's left for us to find ourselves in the final cut.

Directed by Academy Award winner Steven Spielberg, Jaws set the standard for edge-of-your seat suspense quickly becoming a cultural phenomenon and forever changing the movie industry. Huge credit is given to Benchley, the author of the novel, for delivering a narrative that outside of the technical aspects of making the movie, holds its own as a survival story. They have given the soundtrack a new lease of life, and it's as heart-stoppingly frightening as it ever was. And once again, the storytelling, the suspense building is so good in this film, that by the time you actually do see the shark, you forget all its shortcomings as a prop. But let's be honest, between the four hours of documentaries and other goodies, there's a lot to love about the bonus features. Where the original dialogue track suffered slightly from feeling thin and weak in places, often becoming messy and intertwined with the limited frequency range the original audio track utilised, what we have here is unquestionably remastered, and it's remastered well. Rather than simply making new foley effects, they singled the sounds from the original design, cleaned them up and repurposed them, expanding the soundfield into a wonderfully immersive aural experience.

A giant great white shark arrives on the shores of a New England beach resort and wreaks havoc with bloody attacks on swimmers, until a local sheriff teams up with a marine biologist and an old seafarer to hunt the monster down. A marine biologist from the Oceanographic Institute, Matt Hooper arrives at Amity Island to help track the rogue shark. So many wonderful things have come from mistakes, accidents or happenstance – from Velcro to gum, the Frisbee, ice cream cones, silly putty and Post-it notes to name a few. All of the galleries are set up to allow you to scroll through each item or you can just let it play through on its own like a slideshow.
