About this deal

Applied weekly between October and March, it will fortify plants in the colder weather, helping to prevent premature leaf fall and discolouration. We feel it is important that primarily we match the trunks as the plant can be clipped and shaped as it grows and becomes established. In the middle of winter our dark, rainy days can lead to some leaf drop even if you are doing everything right.

This dual pack of Citrus Summer and Winter Soluble Feed contains everything your Citrus tree needs for healthy growth all through the year. As Citrus flower all year round, it is important to ensure they have the right nutrients during colder months. Do keep an eye on the weather forecast and if we have a hard frost forecast then most citrus will be better off inside. Seed-raised plants can take many years to produce fruit and the fruit quality is usually inferior to that of the parent plant, but it can be fun to try and produce some unexpected results. Sow seeds fresh from ripe fruit at a depth of about 1cm (½in) in John Innes seed or multi-purpose compost at a temperature of 16°C (61°F).

You can wrap the pot with hessian or fleece to extend the season outdoors and/or bring it close to the wall of your house to give your tree a bit of extra protection. It’s always a good idea to consider the position of your home with regards to light and shelter as this will help you decide what plants to purchase. Our Citrus Feed is a nitrogen based fertiliser which contains Phosphorous and Potassium to create a balanced soluble Citrus Feed. The Summer Feed has more Nitrogen for leaf growth and the Winter Feed has proportionately more Phosphorous and Potassium to help develop fruits.

Citrus Feed – Winter: Helps prevent premature leaf fall and discolouration Carefully balanced to maintain growth Applied monthly between October and March. Balconies and windowsills are great spaces to keep plants; to find out what plants are suitable the Royal Horticultural Society has advice for a balcony or rooftop position. In winter, allow the surface to partially dry out before watering, then water thoroughly with rainwater, allowing excess moisture to drain away. NPK 20-20-20 (contains 20% nitrogen, 20% phosphorus pentoxide, 20% potassium oxide with iron, copper and manganese as trace elements).
