Description

The relationship between Tom and his daughter is shaping up to be an interesting one, as we keep learning more about her. When the body of a young American student is found in the backseat of a car during a road accident it quickly becomes evident that was not how the young woman met her death. I have no idea how she keeps track of who is where doing what, and I didn't try to keep track myself, but the story flowed really well. I've gradually picked up on the fact that DS, DI, and DCI are police officials of increasing rank, they work out of a "Nick," and they would rather catch the bad guy before he decides to "do one. This one abducts students from Manchester University and keeps them for some time before he kills them.

Durrant conjures vicious killers, but didn't tell us why the killer did some of the things that were done to the victims. I think this had some bearing on me only giving this four stars as I'd enjoyed the case in book 3 so much and there were parts of the characters stories I knew outcomes to already too. Personally I dislike it when authors do this as I feel cheated having paid for a book only to find it incomplete and having to fork out more money if I want to find out what happens next. All this and a missing child and mysterious, horribly tortured body found at the scene of an auto accident.A more coherent effort than the first book, Dead Wrong, but still suffering from the issues of uneven pacing and poorly drawn supporting characters. None of the other characters are particularly well drawn but they don't need to be because this is a plot driven novel. I also feel like while yes, it was a rather large jump for the police to make, having been on the scene for something else, it should have at least been a blip on their radar if for nothing more than a possible lead for information on one of the clues. Helen is one of the ‘baby boomer’ generation and began writing when she retired from her job at a local college. Ray Fallon also makes an appearance and it looks like Tom will never find any peace when it comes to his notorious cousin. Don't be put off by the fact that it is a series of books as it works perfectly as a stand alone thriller. Our two main detectives are still having problems finding any balance between work and private life and this series of murders isn’t making it any better. She has been married forever, has two grown up daughters, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Entführung, Folter, sexuelle Gewalt und andere Grausamkeiten - bis zum Zunähen der Münder der Opfer und Ohrmarken mit Nummern wie bei Nutzvieh. Although this book should keep you turning pages, there were parts of it that didn't quite hang together for me. Some reviewers have said not, which puzzles me, because there is definitely a connection, but it’s not what you’d expect. I thought the pacing seemed rushed somehow and it didn’t really feel like the story flowed naturally.

As that is not possible, I have awarded four stars rather than three as the story certainly held my interest throughout. The detectives piece together the forensic evidence and track down the witnesses, to reach a shocking conclusion.Having been married and divorced before the age of twenty-one has set a pattern that he finds difficult to escape. Their detective work involves analyzing forensic evidence and tracking down witnesses to solve the case. Once again, we have equal importance given to the characters’ personal lives and mystery behind the murders. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
