Into the Volcano is another wonderful nature-based adventure from Jess Butterworth, though the big themes of grief and trauma make the emotional journey equally as important to the story as the physical one. The third peak, furthest to the west, consists of hyaloclastite, a rock typical of having been quenched in contact with ice and water.

Married to this absurd plot are the illustrations, which, while colored beautifully, are busy and confusing. After a dramatic shooting in a petrol station, the two main characters are affected in similar ways.
