Description

I was surprised to find out (by reading the acknowledgments) that this story was partially based on Chang’s own experiences with her sister, but I’m glad she wrote this book to help others in a similar position.

Frances feels all of the attention is on her sister because she is better in school and has this problem. It would be nice if nasty words were the only things that get hurled at the LGBTQ community and its supporters. Open a dialogue with the children in your life about the importance of love and acceptance with this Silver Moonbeam Award Winner story celebrating open mindedness, diversity, and the LGBTQIA+ community.

Laura is the founder and creative director of one of Australia's leading bohemian jewellery brands, ToniMay, 2019 Cosmopolitan Fashion Designer of the Year and host of the Life Uncut podcast. As paper is the traditional gift, this book will make a traditional present so much more contemporary and heartfelt. The book is partially based on the author's own childhood and perfectly captures what it's like growing up in a Chinese household. As a woman in a diverse family where my children have two dads and two moms, I think books like this are important for us to learn that 'Love is Love'. It would be great if people would read books like this to their kids and encourage acceptance and kindness.

I See You (2017), and Rainbow: A First Book of Pride (2019) all from Magination Press, as well as Love Is Love (Little Pickle Press/Sourcebooks, 2018). Simultaneously it’s beautiful, filled with magic moments, which explore the creativity and imagination of children - the imagination adults seem to have lost in adulthood with all their boring tasks and chores and with meaningless hobbies. He has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families, dealing with various facets of mental health and illness: anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, trauma, abuse, sexuality, work stress, bereavement and chronic health conditions. The second page is a "Note To Parents, Teachers, And Other Caring Adults," and I really wish I'd had access to its messages when beginning my teaching career!
