Gloriously rich and utterly delightful, Miss Peregrine’s Museum of Wonders is an indispensable guide to the peculiar world, perfect for longtime fans and new readers alike.I found this little novella quite wonderful and informative if you're a fan of the world that Ransom Riggs has created. This is a very detailed and fascinating guide into the peculiar world of the “Miss Peregrine” series that I have devoured from page to page. This volume is the ideal primer for anyone curious about the world of Miss Peregrine: an overview of its strange history, curious practices, fascinating places, the most famous (and infamous) members of its peculiar families, and much more. I love a good guidebook as much as anyone who’s as obsessed with world building as I am, and this one was really fun! Written in Miss Peregrine’s inimitable style, it’s also a dramatic expansion of the universe fans have already come to love.

That being said, there is no real story here it is just more lore and peculiar world building so if you have not already read the Miss Peregrine’s series do NOT start here because there will be spoilers for the larger series, and you won’t have a connection to the characters and so the fun footnotes from Miss Peregrine will lose much of their charm. It somewhat feels like this book was written as a way for Ransom Riggs to have people see more of his antique photographs that he’s collected, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing since I know a lot of people fell in love with the Miss Peregrine’s series because of the antique photos. that being said, I sadly really struggled with the style of writing in this one, simply because it reminded me of a textbook.I loved the Miss Peregrine's series and often felt that each sequel was like coming back to old friends and while this isn't quite the same, it delved back into that peculiar world and gave us MORE peculiar characters, people, places, et cetera. Written in Miss Peregrine's inimitable style, it's also a dramatic expansion of the universe fans have already come to love. it doesn't have a plot or story, but rather explains everything that has to do with the peculiar universe. The whole chapter on the Loops could have been scratched though (not because it was bad, but because no matter how much explanation there is or what the system being explained is, I will never understand time travel!

As such it does not read linearly but rather as a series of articles covering a wide range of topics. There was all of the nitty gritty details I love about world building (and had wanted a bit more about in the actual series) in this book, so if you enjoyed the series at least a little bit and are a fan of world building, I’d encourage checking this out. A guidebook to the peculiar world for fledgling members, with notes about the variety of peculiar abilities, techniques for blending in with normals, and other helpful features. There is a lot of lore found such as the type of peculiars we’ve seen in the series, how they lived and there are even some personal stories and interesting facts. I’d only recommend for diehard fans of the Peculiar Children series, and probably wouldn’t have gone out of my way to read it myself if I hadn’t happened upon it at the library while grabbing the other books. Some sections felt like I was forcing myself to read it for school while other sections were so enjoyable that I wish they would’ve been longer. This is a book that really needs to be read in tandem with the 6 books since many references (especially to certain people) do not really achieve their true impact otherwise. It’s a really quick read and just fun all around, even if the original series wasn’t your absolute favorite. I always love when a series releases a sort of guide to the world and some parts of it, so this was perfect for me. sviđa mi se riggsov humor, njegova uvrnutost i maštovitost i mislim da je izvukao maksimum iz fuzije fotografije i teksta.
