About this deal

The durability has shone through in the past few versions of the Lone Peak. That’s one reason these shoes are fan favorites of long-distance hikers (I should know, I blasted through a different shoe in 400km, with no option but to duct tape my feet!). Some prefer stitched overlays because it is tried and tested, but the Lone Peak now uses welded overlays. The Lone Peak 6 had double stitching throughout the shoe’s overlays, which may seem durable, but one big scuff can leave you with broken stitching that gradually unwinds over time. The same cannot be said for welded overlays, the seams are glued, and as long as the glue doesn’t fail (that’s the big question), these overlays won’t be moving. The shoe fits true to size with a tight heel cup. Altra’s unique selling point has always been the unique footprint of their shoe that follows the foot shape more naturally (alongside their zero drop).

Newly formulated MaxTrac outsole rubber and longer outsole lugs improve the Lone Peak 7’s grip on loose dirt. The lugs now measure 5mm in length—that’s about half a millimeter longer than the teeth on the Lone Peak 6. and Post. It’s advisable to use a service that insures the parcel in the event that it goes missing in transit. The roomy, rounded forefoot adds more to this cosy feeling, reducing uncomfortable friction against the lining. The mesh uppers with enhanced ventilation also feature some synthetic elements on the side panel and keep the feet dry and cool during long runs while the fully gusseted tongues keep the water away. Wrapping the feet securely yet leaving them just enough room to retain the wearer's mobility, their heel cups conform with the wearer's shape, enhancing the overall stability. Nimble on Mixed TerrainThe Lone Peak 7 has gained more weight, but you don’t feel it. With a gain of 0.4oz (14g), it’s difficult to feel the weight difference, but as always, when shoes gain weight, they’re going in the wrong direction! Maybe it’s the new rubber? Or the extra glue they need for the overlays; either way, I’m not sure the weight gain is warranted with this update.

Karhi Ikoni Trail: 5mm heel to forefoot. A softer ride and more cushioning takes away some of the ground feel. Here is our review: In summary the Lone Peak 7 builds on the well-established Lone Peak reputation. If you are happily running in a Lone Peak 6, then I’m confident you’ll enjoy the Lone Peak 7. The Lone Peak 7 offers more natural stability and increased traction. They are however a neutral shoe, well-designed to allow your feet to expand, function and the keep the trail runner heading forwards with a natural gait and better posture. All applicable customs and import duties and any other charges are the responsibility of the customer. Maybe not a downside, but it is worth noting that the zero-drop design is a significant change from what most people are accustomed to. The design goes against what you’ve likely always worn in terms of a running shoe, and some people simply might not like it.The legend continues with the newest edition to the Lone Peak family. The Lone Peak 6 is ready to take on any terrain with trail features like our grippy MaxTrac™ outsole with TrailClaw™ canted lugs designed to keep you going. This evolution’s updated upper construction and customizable lacing system provides a more secure fit so you can take on the trails with confidence.

Brycen: "I could not feel the pavement, dirt, tree branches, or anything that was under my foot while running in this shoe. The Lone Peak 6 is one of the best shoes for my knees that I have reviewed. I'd give it a perfect 10 when it comes to protection."

There are a few notable features we need to touch on. Some of these elements were carried over from past versions, and some are specific to the Lone Peak. Nonetheless, these are what separate the Altra from the rest. Zero Drop (Photo/Josh Kirchner) There are five color options for men and four for women. Altra also offers three different foot shape options: Original, Standard, and Slim. Much like the Nike React Pegasus Trail 4 Gore-Tex, the Altra Lone Peak 6 are shoes specifically engineered for off-road jogging, offering a distinctive design and excellent performance for wide-footed runners. They boast a noteworthy trait with their Zero Drop composition. This simple method, which has a cult following, helps the wearer utilise their midfoot more by keeping the heel and the tip at the same height. Additionally, they eliminate some possible injuries that come with imbalanced steps by improving one's posture. Inov-8 Trailfly G270: Zero drop. A firmer more responsive feel. A rounded toe box but, not quite as much volume in the shoes.
