What’ll we do with ourselves this afternoon,’ cried Daisy, ‘and the day after that, and the next thirty years?'” Since this book has a high average rating I realize that my dislikes about this book are very subjective and that obviously not everyone would agree. Nevertheless, here are my reasons for not enjoying Chasing Daisy: He hadn’t once ceased looking at Daisy and I think he revalued everything in his house according to the measure of response it drew from her well-loved eyes. Sometimes, too, he stared around at his possessions in a dazed way as though in her actual and astounding presence none of it was any longer real. Once he nearly toppled down a flight of stairs.”

Daisy was young and her artificial world was redolent of orchids and pleasant, cheerful snobbery and orchestras which set the rhythm of the year, summing up the sadness and suggestiveness of life in new tunes.” He couldn’t possibly leave Daisy until he knew what she was going to do. He was clutching at some last hope and I couldn’t bear to shake him free.” After a slightly slow start for me this book kept getting better and better. We meet Daisy and Luis when they are having an argument over who caused her to fall off her motorbike (we later discover this was when Luis fell in love with her at that point the feeling wasn't mutual) I guessed Daisy's famous ex was Johnny it was good to read about him from another person's perspective other than meg' s. I like how Luis works all this out not Will. They are self-centered, moody, unfaithful and over the age of 25 but act like fifteen year olds. The insta-love between Daisy and Will worked for me when I thought for sure I knew how it would go; I was absolutely sure that she would realize that he was a sneak douche and serial mistress-keeper. Because the prologue was basically all about Luis it was obvious from then on that he is who she would end up with but halfway through this is instead arranged by Will dying in an accident, becoming canonized, leaving his affair with Daisy as Twu-Wuw in her imbecile mind. Cue plenty of dramatic wailing. Oh, you want too much!’ she cried to Gatsby. ‘I love you now—isn’t that enough? I can’t help what’s past.'”

One fact about me that often surprises people is that I am a big Formula 1 fan. The sport just really fascinates me and race weekends are my favorite weekends of the year. Also, I really hope I’ll one day be able to attend one of the races instead of only being able to watch from in front of my TV. They moved with a fast crowd, all of them young and rich and wild, but [Daisy] came out with an absolutely perfect reputation. Perhaps because she doesn’t drink. It’s a great advantage not to drink among hard-drinking people. You can hold your tongue, and, moreover, you can time any little irregularity of your own so that everybody else is so blind that they don’t see or care. Perhaps Daisy never went in for amour at all—and yet there’s something in that voice of hers. . . I though I was going to love this book, just like I loved Paige Toon's last two books. It showed promise and after reading the prologue and the first chapter I was well and truly set on the notion that I was going to enjoy the book. Boy was I wrong. They moved with a fast crowd, all of them young and rich and wild, but [Daisy] came out with an absolutely perfect reputation. Perhaps because she doesn’t drink. It’s a great advantage not to drink among hard-drinking people. You can hold your tongue, and, moreover, you can time any little irregularity of your own so that everybody else is so blind that they don’t see or care.” I looked outdoors for a minute, and it’s very romantic outdoors. There’s a bird on the lawn that I think must be a nightingale come over on the Cunard or White Star Line. He is singing away… It’s romantic, isn’t it Tom?” The quarrels of Daisy and Luis still color the first few chapters of this amazing novel. The war of their insults was very sweet and funny. One cursed in Italian and the other cursed in Portuguese. And then they both learn to curse in French. We can see the signs that Luis likes Daisy but Daisy is hooked on Will, Luis’s teammate. Knowing that Will already has a lover Daisy always reminded herself not to fall in love with Will. And when Will and Daisy both realized that they liked each other, you will like their decision to wait until Will settled her relationship with Laura, her lover. Im plowing through this books still, the end is in sight, but its has not been a fun and enjoyable journey thus far, and I dont expect it to turn into one any time soon.

You see I think everything’s terrible anyhow,’ she went on in a convinced way. ‘Everybody thinks so—the most advanced people. And I know. I’ve been everywhere and seen everything and done everything.’ Her eyes flashed around her in a defiant way, rather like Tom’s, and she laughed with thrilling scorn. ‘Sophisticated—God, I’m sophisticated!'” Daisy is completely unlikable, as for that matter is Holly who is also having an affair, but who I am also supposed to feel for because the wife of this man is a complete bitch.

The prologue tells Daisy’s first encounter with Luis and their quarrel. Daisy feels Luis almost run over her car, while Luis thinks Daisy is an incompetent driver and almost scratches his expensive car.
