Description

What the two kayaks do have in common, however, is the fact that they’re both made out of heavy-duty PVC, have three separate air chambers, and have an inflatable I-beam floor for rigidity. The entirety of the kayak is made of robust and durable material. Because of these materials, the kayak can last for many years without any issues. Plus, there is a bright green design along the entirety of the kayak, which ensures that it will be seen. It has a 3-ply super-tough construction consisting of high molecular PVC, which is resistant to saltwater, oil, and gasoline. This material construction makes it highly resistant to UV damage, impact, and abrasion. Having the right kayak will make all the difference in your fishing or leisure kayak outings. Intex is arguably the leader when it comes to inflatable kayaks, and their best inflatable kayak is the Excursion Pro. What makes it the best? The Excursion Pro inflatable kayak is very stable because of its high-pressure inflation. It also has spring-loaded valves, enabling easy inflation and deflation. These valves won’t allow air to escape while it is being inflated.

The hull is made of 33-millimeter Polykrylar which makes it strong enough to endure different water conditions. This kayak is remarkably durable and has proven to be worth every coin you spend on it: this durability and strength are due to the 1-way valves and great material formulation. One of the outstanding features of this kayak is how easy it is to set up and transport for most users. It takes an average of 8 minutes to set up the kayak. Key Features Includes two double aluminum paddles (218 cm), manual inflator and deflator, pressure gauge, bag with handle for storage and transport, and repair kit with patch for any holes or punctures. Enjoy the summer and have fun with Intex! You also get a seat booster, which raises your seat while fishing, giving you a higher vantage point to cast. It’s a thoughtful touch. Some other notable features of the River Gorge 130X are the bottle holder, the four accessory eyelets, the two 4” dry hatches with storage bags, and the storage platform with bungee covers to house your larger gear and belongings. Specifications and Features Inflatable kayaks have numerous advantages over traditional hard-shell kayaks, making them a must-have for anyone who loves adventure. They are easy to carry and store since they can fit into a bag when deflated. They also have multiple air chambers, making them safe if one chamber is punctured and easy to inflate and set up. Key Takeaways Rigid testing is performed on all Intex products on a routine basis to make sure they are safe to use. But consumers are also advised to use their products only after reading the user manual. Following the instructions and guidelines set in the user manual is vital to avoid accidents and the misuse and abuse of the products. Conclusion – Intex Excursion Pro Kayak Review

Can get punctures– Although very strong it’s not as high quality as some of the more premium brands so can puncture (repair kit is included) Inflating the Explorer K2 takes less than ten minutes. Intex has printed a scale on the sidewalls that shows when the kayak is fully inflated. Once the printed line measures 10 cm, the Explorer is fully inflated and ready to go. Intex kayaks are ideal for paddlers or families who want a low-cost option to spend some time on the water. While they are not as durable as high-end inflatable kayaks, they still hold air for casual paddlers on a budget. For aspiring recreational kayak owners, Intex inflatables offer comparable price and performance to an entry-level rigid kayak, but with the added benefit of effortless storage and portability. The kayak has 2 built-in fishing rod holders. I didn’t use the Excursion Pro for fishing, but I could see that the rod holders lean inward. If you had 2 fishing rods, they would cross each other, rendering the rod holders incapable of performing their job. What you could do though, is bridge a pipe between the rod holders, and mount Scotty rod holders onto the pipe. Due to the variable placement of the seats, you can paddle it solo as well. In the following photo you can see that the effective length of the boat on the water, i.e. the waterline, is much shorter than the total length of the boat. The reason is that the weight is mainly concentrated in the middle of the boat. Nevertheless, the Excursion Pro can be paddled without problems with a deep water fin. The speed and the directional stability as a 1-person kayak are alright for short trips.

Performance

The Intex Excursion Pro Kayak Series is a highly upgradable and customizable kayak that can be easily modified to suit your individual needs and preferences. As you can tell, both Kayaks are equally strong and durable, and that’s why they are among the best inflatable kayaks on the market. Verdict The kayak’s stability was also carefully thought about when creating the Excursion Pro. Inflatable kayaks obviously aren’t as sturdy as a traditional hard shell kayak, so to improve the boat's rigidity, Intex added inflatable I-beam flooring which is common in a lot of inflatable kayaks.

And the great part is that the monster-sized carry bag will fit everything, and then some. Whenever in a hurry, you’ll enjoy how the boat fits in nicely, even when not folded neatly. It also seems like it is of good quality, so hopefully, it won’t tear for a few years. Paddle holders down the side of the kayak will secure your paddles in place when they aren’t in use.

Performance Comparison

We found the kayak to be incredibly sturdy and durable, even when we were in rougher water with the wind blowing against us. Yes. However, it would help if you were careful with that. Can this boat be used after several times months to verify durability?

The Excursion Pro kayak can accommodate two people. Surprisingly, it costs the same as or less than many single-person kayaks with similar or even fewer amenities. Another excellent advantage is that it can be used as both a touring and fishing kayak.

Our Verdict

Apart from the fin holder, the kayak was well processed The bottom of the kayak also makes a robust impression The Sound 10.5 has fishing rod holders as well as accessory mount points, so you also have the option to use it as a fishing kayak. The Explorer K2 kayak is the least expensive two-person kayak from Intex. Available as a tandem model (that can also be paddled solo), the kayak kit comes with a pump and paddles, so in theory you can buy a personal flotation device (PFD) and safety kit (containing Coast Guard-approved equipment), walk out of the store and get on the water. If you discover the kayak has an air leak, it may not be a deal-breaker. If the leak is a simple pinhole, you can repair the hole using the patch kit provided, or any PVC patch kit. Leaks along the seams of the kayak or at the valves will be more difficult to resolve; pass on any leaking used kayak that you’re not confident about repairing.
