DI Helen Grace is a genuinely fresh heroine ... MJ Arlidge weaves together a tapestry that chills to the bone' Thriller. Wendy is a suburban mom. She gets in a fight with her husband, and plans to meet up with a girlfriend at the bar for drinks. Her friend doesn't show, and a cute man who's a great piano player starts flirting with her and buying her drinks. She's attracted to him.

explaining that yes, she was cheating on her husband but She's Not A Floozy (this is always the deciding factor that tips strangers in helping a wanted fugitive accused of double homicide; they start out wary but as soon as she assures them nothing penetrative happened, it was only kissing and heavy petting, it's all peachy (and yes, strangers who are confronted by a wanted fugitive possible murderer care more about the whole cheating situation than the murdering situation)) Wendy accepts his invitation to go up to his hotel room. Things get hot and heavy. But before any intercourse of any kind actually happens, Wendy snaps to reality and realizes that she can't have sex with this man. She's married and loves her husband. This story starts with a simple marital spat, an argument between two people who love each other deeply, but let emotion control them for just a day. Not much time, but in that period, Wendy Gould (the wife) almost sleeps with another man. Almost--she stops herself in time, but can't get out of the hotel room before her potential paramour is murdered and she must kill a Federal agent to save her own life. She flees for home and confides in her husband--the bad and the ugly--but before they can tell her story to the police, he is killed and she must run for her life from a rogue federal agent. Wendy is abuot to have a one-night stand. At the last moment she decides that she can not go through with it. She is in tbe hotel bathroom when she hears voices arguing. There is another man in the room and he is holding a gun. The next thing, the man that Wendy was about to have sex with is shot and killed. Wendy acting on impluse shots the other man and then takes off running. Wendy goes into hiding trying to figure out a way to clear her name. The ending, without revealing anything was to me a bit of a let down. It's a let's leave them to it sort of thing to me anyway. I still had questions, how would they overcome certain situations. There was a summary of other people who had interacted with the main character, Audery, and what the outcome was for their lives but a sort of this is the situation, now we leave her get her happiness. Not enough for me. As an example, at some point she feels whoever she ends up with she was going to be playing second fiddle so how could she be good with that.well what I found was a story that first and foremost was very readable, written in a style that I enjoyed. It's a story that starts in Cyprus after Audrey's wedding has been called off very last minute, and then continues in London, with the support of her friends and family. I liked that the writer tied a true event within the story's main plot (again I don't like to give spoilers) but other than that to me there wasn't a whole lot special about it. I am afraid in time I will forget about this story altogether. Mary spends the next few months in filthy Newgate Prison, wondering what will happen to her. She misses her family and is terrified she won't live to grow up and try to have a better life and have children of her own. Then her sentence is commuted to transportation to the new colony of New South Wales (present day Sydney, Australia). Mary is grateful for a chance to survive but sad she will never see England or her family again. The sea voyage is very long and Mary wonders what will await her at the end.

Meanwhile, Lauritzia Velez, a nanny, is also running away from some terrible events. Most of her family have been murdered by a gang, the Los Zetas. Wendy now on the run from the cops and feds, has to clear her name. She can do this because she worked as a cop for one year and also went to law school for a bit! As of the characters, there are two female main characters. One I felt a little sympathy but the other one I could care less. Not a good sign when the reader is along for her adventure and is suppose to root for her. She irked me more than anything else. Audrey’s heart and mind is very unsettled and Cyprus is not proving much of a distraction especially when she literally falls in the lap of wealthy and handsome businessman Daniel Taylor. Daniel turns out to be Audrey’s very own Prince Charming but is she ready to be swooned so soon? I do enjoy Kelly’s style of writing, it’s reader-friendly quite fast-paced where it needs to be and each character is memorable.

This novel is about a married woman who recently had an argument with her husband. She goes to a bar and while there she meets a man. She heads up to his room for a one night stand. Before she knows it she is thrust into a conspiracy that has dire consequences for her. This is your basic thriller novel. Jane and Mary are taken to court where they are offered transportation instead of hanging. They say yes and Mary does not get to say goodbye to her mother before she is taken to a ship bound for Australia.
