Dr. Seuss's ABC is a 1963 English language alphabet book written by Dr. Seuss and illustrated by Robert Louis Stevenson starring two anthropomorphic yellow dogs named Ichabod and Izzy as they journey through the alphabet and meet characters whose names begin with each letter. It was read as an audiobook by British comedian Rik Mayall as part of the 2000 audio release The Dr Seuss Collection. The best-selling, classic book “Dr. Seuss’s ABC“ comes to life with playful interactivity, delightful animations and learning activities! From Aunt Annie riding an Alligator to the Zizzer-Zazzer-Zuzz, learning to read is an unforgettable adventure with Dr. Seuss! I am now reviewing a different edition that goes into far more detail than the one reviewed above. It still runs through the gamut of the alphabet, it is still fun, the illustrations are as zany as Dr Seuss can be and it is still a must for children of all ages. Believe it or not, I bought it for my daughter (she is in her 40s and still loves Dr Seuss) for Christmas and she was determined to read it aloud to me - and she did. I then decided to read it myself because it was such fun.

This book was also used for Random House Home Video which entitles as "Dr. Seuss's Beginner Book Video", along with two other books " I Can Read with My Eyes Shut!" and " Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?" Houghton Mifflin and Random House asked Dr. Seuss to write a children's primer using 220 vocabulary words. The resulting book, 'The Cat in the Hat,' was published in 1957. Dr. Seuss drew inspiration from memories of his mother, Nettie Geisel, who read stories to Ted and his sister, Marnie Geisel, at bedtime. He and Marnie also took piano lessons. Marnie practiced daily while he could be bribed with books. Whenever he did well, she took him to Johnson’s Book Store and let him choose a book as a reward. Dr. Seuss's ABC was published as a Beginner Book in 1963, alongside Hop on Pop. [1] Reception [ edit ] Of them. Beyondddddddddd frustrated about that though 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 I gave the two stars because 1.) the book is interactive and that’s really cool and fun so it got them the two stars. 2.) it’s FIVE dollars for this single interactive book. It sounds cheap but as a single mother providing for her child that is a bit over budget for a single interactive book. So that would have gotten me to give them 1 star or less. I really thought there would be more to it than just the book. UNLESS someone like you...cares a whole awful lot...nothing is going to get better...It's not." In this book, Geisel warns of the dangers of mistreating the environment before environmentalism was a trend. The cautionary tale teaches young readers about the beauty of the natural world and their duty to protect it. 'Oh, the Places You’ll Go!' (1990)

Dr. Seuss has a magical way of rhyming and creating rhythm that appeal to young and old. You begin reading about Aunt Annie's alligator and you're off into that delightful rhythm that keeps you and the children hooked to the very end with the Zizzer-Zazzer-Zuzz. Seuss never disappoints - the rhyme and rhythm are always precise, all because of his great imagination.
