Sadistic Reynolds strangled the A-level student, took photos as he abused her body and then dumped her naked corpse in woodland. And now Georgia's mum Lynnette has chronicled their loss in her book, Our Georgia. The judge added he was satisfied Reynolds had “been obsessed” with carrying out his sadistic fantasy for at least five years. Reynolds then posed her body, both partly clothed and naked, in different parts of the house including on his parents' bed, also carrying out sordid sex acts.

Two days later, following a Crimewatch appeal, Georgia’s body was found near Ruthin, North Wales. Reynolds was charged with murder, and Steve and Lynnette made a harrowing journey to lay flowers at the scene. The final photographs showed her standing on a red recycling box, hands seemingly bound behind her, with the rope hanging above her, Mr Crigman added. Her father later told the court that he and Miss Williams' mother would carry the scars of the memory of seeing their daughter's body, as it lay in the hospital's chapel of rest, “from here to eternity”. Two days later, following a Crimewatch appeal, Georgia’s body was found by the Nant y Garth pass near Ruthin. Sadly, it turns out to be a very sad story that could have been avoided as Lynn exposes a system with so many failures, into not only the police taking their eye of Renolds when he was younger and committed his first crime, but also the miss communication between psychiatrists and psychologists that warned agencies including the police that this young man was very dangerous.

During the trial, it emerged that Reynolds had come to the police's attention in 2008 when he received what the judge called “a final warning” after trapping another 17-year-old girl in his home, in what was a chilling precursor to Miss Williams' murder.

Who was Georgia Williams?

She added: "I watch the news and can see these issues are still relevant now. Police forces apologising for mistakes and saying 'lessons will be learned' - but the problem is, they aren't. After sentencing, West Mercia Police's investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Neil Jamieson branded Reynolds “a sadistic, very dangerous and manipulative individual” who had gone out of his way to prey on young women. West Mercia Police claimed there was “no causal link” between its officers’ actions in dealing with Reynolds in 2008 and Georgia’s murder five years later.

The couple, who now live near to Market Drayton, even moved out of Telford to see if a fresh start would help them to ease their grief. Georgia's father, Detective Constable Steve Williams, her mother, Lynette, and sister, Scarlett, left the court as Crigman detailed how she was murdered in May. Mr Crigman said Reynolds's fascination with Miss Williams was undeterred and he had written a gruesome story on his mobile phone entitled “Georgia Williams in Surprise” in which she died following a sex game. It depicted the victim as a willing participant but that element, Mr Crigman said, could not have been further from the truth. In a cruel twist Georgia’s father Steve Williams is himself a decorated police detective with the Serious Incident Unit at West Mercia police - the same force which investigated both Reynolds’ 2008 offence, and his own daughter’s murder.
