The concept of the "eye of the universe" inside the castle throne room is not present in the animated series.Although it is mostly viewed from the outside, there are a few notable internal locations: the Throne Room; Main Chamber (including the Walkway of the Elders); the Hall of He-Man; the Portal Chamber (in the skull top); a laboratory (basement); Mirror Room (basement); the Sorceress' den (where she studies and practices spells; in the right tower); and, the Sorceress' bed-chamber. In the episode "Double Trouble", an evil doppelganger of He-Man's friend Kol Darr also comes across the chamber that houses the Secrets of Castle Grayskull. It is a room with two doors, between which sits the Guardian, one of which houses the secrets, the other one is the only destruction. It is revealed that Castle Grayskull was once home to King Grayskull, an ancestor of Prince Adam, who died defending his kingdom and Eternia as a whole from Hordak. [17] Upon his death, King Grayskull transferred his power into his sword that now forms the basis of He-Man's power. His wife Veena became the first Sorceress, and his advisers became the Council of Elders. He also had an enormous green lion as a mount, bearing the same armor as Battle Cat, and is presumably where Battle Cat gains his powers. The comic book produced by MVC, which follows the 2002 canon, also depicted the Sorceress' fighting prowess when she defeats Evil-Lyn in direct conflict during a storyline that saw the first appearance of Hordak.

Skeletor continues to engage He-Man with his sword, but as a result, is vanquished by falling into a deep pit. However, Filmation's version of He-Man's universe carried on in a spinoff series, She-Ra: Princess of Power, based on Masters of the Universe's sister line of toys. Beginning in 1985 just as He-Man's series was ending, She-Ra frequently incorporated Masters of the Universe characters into She-Ra's world of Etheria, allowing Mattel to continue marketing both lines of toys. Finally, after 93 episodes, She-Ra came to a close in 1987.

Skeletor is depicted as commanding a huge army of armored soldiers. In the animated series, his only assistants were the Evil Warriors, who were not entirely under his command. He commanded smaller robot soldiers, but they were non-humanoid and displayed no capability for speech or intelligence. In some ways, the film depiction is more akin to the Evil Horde. In the storyline of the latest Mattel toyline, Teela is the clone of the Sorceress Teela Na. She eventually takes over from her as the new Sorceress, and will one day become the wife of King He-Man and mother to their son Dare. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is a 2021 American CG web television series on Netflix. It is a reboot of the 1983 series of the same name.
