Some folks are reporting that you have to remove the batteries from speedlights or transmitter before attaching them to USB to get the firmware updater to recognize it.

Overall, the AD400Pro and AD600Pro are both amazing portable flashes that perform very well in both indoor and outdoor settings.

The flash boasts a Colour Priority Mode where white balance fluctuations will not exceed +/-75K and in standard mode the white balance is rated at 5600+/-200K.

Many thanks to Paul and Lex for helping me out with this bit. There’s no video for it yet, though. That’ll be coming with the review for the Godox XPro-P trigger for Pentax. The video for this is now live over on the Godox XPro-P review. The AD400Pro Witstro features a high-speed sync mode that works with shutter speeds up to 1/8000 second, offering flash durations from 1/240 to 1/12,820 second. Another unique setting is its Stable Colour Temperature Mode, which tightly controls colour to keep temperature changes within ±75K across the entire power range. Despite these impressive characteristics, it manages to keep recycling times low at 0.01-0.9 seconds to capture peak action and every fleeting gesture. A 30W LED modelling lamp is onboard to help preview how the light is falling on your subject. This ability to overpower the sun comes from the massive 600Ws of power that this light can produce. This light has a power range of 1/256-1/1 in 10 increments, a recycling time of 0.01-0.9s, as well as sporting TTL and HSS capabilities. Having a battery powered flash not only removes the need for AC Power Outputs and wasting time trying to find the outlets (if there even are any available), but also eliminates the tripping hazard of cables on set.

But regardless of whether we were shooting within sync or at 1/1000th of a second, the AD400 Pro never missed a beat. Of course, most of us wouldn’t expect it to, but this is possibly the first time that anybody has tried it on a Pentax camera outside of the Godox test labs.Shot on the Pentax K1 and SMC M 35-70mm f4 lens at 1/1000 (the first three) and 1/320 (far right) at f/4, ISO200 – Lex’s photos. Hold down Shift while selecting [Start menu]→Power→Restart. Continue holding down the shift key through the spinning circle of white dots until you are in the blue advanced boot options window. The AD600 Pro also offers a very powerful modeling lamp, meaning that this light can also be used as a video light alongside its flash capabilities! Offering a 38w light, as well as a 4-hour battery life from a single charge, the AD600 Pro is a great tool for both videography and flash photography. Partway through the day, we went to take a break in Glasgow Green park. So I tested my usual TTL method. Aperture priority with -2EV on the camera, and +2EV on the flash in TTL mode. This similarity in power seems about right to me. When I compared the AD600 Pro to the AD600BM a few months, I did see about a 1/2 to 2/3 of a stop increase on the AD600 Pro when using the same modifiers. And the AD400 Pro is about 1/2 to 2/3 of a stop less powerful than the AD600 Pro. Pros

Offering 100Ws of power in a compact body (sizing in at just 120x76x76 mm, of the size of a can for scale!), as well as 390 full-power flashes from a single charge of its rechargeable battery! This makes the AD100 Pro perfect for traveling photographers, event photographers, as well as any on-location shoots, due to its wireless, portable and lightweight nature. The AD400Pro has been constructed from high-quality plastic and features a large, easy to read LCD screen. Both the tripod mount and light modifier bayonet are constructed from metal for extra durability and the flash can even be used with a 120cm octagonal softbox. The addition of interchangeable mounts on the AD400Pro gives you the versatility to be able to mix and match with the equipment that you’ve already invested in, which is a feature that no other strobe head on the market can do. The AD400PROfeatures a Hight Speed Sync Mode which allows your flash to sync at higher shutter speeds than normal (with shutter speeds up to 1/8000 of a second) and will allow you to overpower the sun with HSS to make shooting outdoors not an issue, reducing ambient light and getting the shot you want. Despite three of us shooting the single strobe that day, that was turned on the entire time, I didn’t have to dip into my Novoo to recharge the battery at all. At the end of the day it was still showing 3 out of 4 lights on the charge indicatorThe AD400 Pro comes with an S-fit mount allowing you to fit all Godox S-fit accessories onto your light as well as other modifiers with a standard S-fit mount. I would like to see this ability added to both the AD400 Pro and AD600 Pro strobes, too, for when dialling in power on the strobe itself. Not having this ability isn’t a dealbreaker, but it’s a handy time-saving option to have in certain circumstances.
