First, this has the split mode, which, as the term implies, bisects the keyboard right in the middle. The left side plays one voice while the right plays another. You may wonder how it is possible to have 32, 64, or even 128 notes playing at the same time, if there are only 88 keys and we never play them all at once. Overall, the P45 of Yamaha clinched the top spot in this one-on-one because of its much-needed playing modes. And to be honest, these are must-haves for beginners who are just starting to learn how to play the piano. On some passages where you are playing multiple notes with (say) your right hand and certain voices need to be emphasized due to the melody, it’s more difficult to do this than on an acoustic piano. Again, this is probably a limitation of my own technical ability but I do notice it even at my level of skill.

My thoughts on the Casio CPD S100 is that it is a good look at a portable digital piano. There aren’t a ton of portable options with 88 keys due to the weight, but this is one of them. You sacrifice a little bit in the sound department, but that is to be expected when paying such a small price. The only real difference I felt was mentioned earlier, and that was the key texture of these two instruments. Beginners will genuinely have a blast playing, and more importantly, learning on these two digital pianos. Their digital piano can also be battery-powered. Six AA batteries can last up to six hours on full-blast volume, although the company notes that it could go on up to 13 hours. I haven’t tried that personally, but maybe that’s possible when using headphones. I had a grand piano and also am incredibly impressed with how much digital keyboards have improved over the years in terms of touch and action. Again, repeated notes, trills, blues/jazz slurs and grace notes are all very responsive.

Natural tone changes for dynamic piano sound

However, certain features can also be applied to stage and gig use (though not without jumping through some hoops). Following the success of the now-discontinued Casio CDP-130, the CDP-S100 utilises brand new digital piano technology developed by Casio. The end result is a much better-sounding piano withsmoother playing experience - the perfect combination for new starters or anyone learning to play keyboard. Casio CDP-S100 Key Features: Specifically, this occurs at the upper points of the white keys, around 2 fingers from the intersection with the upper panel. If you have a habit of playing into the keys, this might be an issue. The keys are made of synthetic ebony and ivory and this has been a common theme here with newer keyboards. Portability There are three intensity levels of touch along with the Off option. Louder sounds demand harder key pressers and softer one softer presser. The default setting releases sounds depending on the intensity of the force. The Casio definitely has a good balance between portability and playability.

Like most digital pianos, the S100 can play in split-layer, which allows for two voices at the same time when a key is played for more effective duets and accompaniment.Available for iOS and Android devices, Chordana Play Piano can show you how to play over 100 famous pieces of classical music, as well as work as a piano remote controller, and PDF music viewer.

If there was an area to improve to really set the S110 apart from the S100, it would be its features. And it doesn’t appear that Casio has made any improvements whatsoever in this regard.Even more impressive is that these are powerful, dual 8W speakers, when other competitors like the Roland FP-10 and Yamaha P-45 rely on dual 6W ones.
