Continue reading to learn more about why this fragrant perfume continues to satisfy the senses, even after several decades. The History of Chantilly Perfume

Perhaps one of the most important aspects of wearing perfume is making it last. While Chantilly is a very fragrant perfume, it too wears off after a certain amount of time. Thankfully, there are a few ways that you can get it to last longer: Apply it Immediately After a Shower There are many fragrant perfumes that are similar to Chantilly. Here are a few other fragrances that you might like as well: Chanel No. 5Our limited-edition Gift Set features a full size bottle of Chantilly EDT alongside limited edition tubes of Body Wash & Body Lotion (not currently sold separately!). The Chantilly composition I was able to meet (Essence de Chantilly, Parfum de Toilette, late 1960s - early 1970s, "watch-type" bottle below) can be described based on the citrus-amber standard of Emeraude-Shalimar, in which the fluffy vanilla and resinous oriental parts were reduced. The Chantilly fragrance, although first released by Houbigant, was also produced by other brands. You can find Chantilly Houbigant (1941-1989), Chantilly Parquet Parfums (1989-1993), and simply Chantilly (1993-1999), which was produced by Renaissance Cosmetics and Dana.

Chanel No. 5 is another popular fragrance that’s been around for many decades. It has a powdery floral scent that’s highlighted by neroli, jasmine, and sandalwood. This fragrant perfume has been around since 1921, and it is the epitome of femininity. Chanel No. 5 is an extravagant aroma that features citrus top notes. It includes a touch of vanilla and leaves an incredible scent trail. Tabu The next time I hauled it out I thought 'This is seriously Old Lady territory, yes, but it does get nicer after a while. I think I sense something else under all that soap, not sure what it is but maybe it's not so bad as I thought?' Chantilly Perfume by Dana is a classic women’s perfume that debuted in 1941. Dana is a fragrance house that Javier Serra created in 1932. The company has a Spanish foundation, but it relocated to Paris during the boom of the fashion industry. Over many years, the Dana brand released various fragrances in the years following World War II. Marcel MIllot is credited with making this perfume, which is part of the "lot to talk about" I mentioned at the beginning. He is a virtual unknown to the world of perfumery, despite having been a key collaborator on several important perfumes of the era, like Amour Amour by Jean Patou (1925), which is credited solely to Henri Alméras. Millot also bares no relation to the house of F MIllot founded by Felix Millot and famously perfumed for by Jean Desprez for a time. Marcel Millot in an article written in 1966 for American Perfumer and Cosmetics, talks about his involvement with Chantilly being a collaborative one as well, implying most perfumes made in the labs he worked during that period were typically not purely solo efforts. In any case, whoever the unknown co-contributors to Chantilly are, they helped give Millot his sole perfume credit. As for the fragrance itself, Chantilly is fairly typical for the time, being a mash-up of chypre elements and oriental elements, a compromise between Chypre de Coty (1917), Chanel No. 5 (1921), and Guerlain Shalimar (1925) as it were. This kitchen sink of notes opens with aldehydes, because of course it does, and then moves through sweet citruses of orange, lemon, and neroli, before moving to indolic florals. The rose and jasmin bring their virility, which is flanked by a fat carnation note and given a slight soapy edge of orris. The powdery resinous base of benzoin, vanilla, and tonka is boosted by a Mousse de Saxe leather note full of oakmoss and warmed with sandalwood. The leather here isn't butch per se, but it adds a unique punch. In it's original form, Chantilly was very expense, and rather expensive-smelling too, but a softer and more-glowing counterpart to aforementioned women's classics. Wear time and projection vary by vintage, but there isn't a weak formula of this anywhere, just strong and stronger. Best use is probably in colder months. Either way, you're going to smell like a madam, and you know what kind I mean. Chantilly fragrance was created by perfumer Marcel Billot. It is known that he was one of the founders of the French Society of Perfumers, created in 1942 and was its first president. In the 1940s and 50s Houbigant emphasized the international development of the brand - from the USA and Brazil to China and Japan, Houbigant representative offices were opened all over Europe, and of course the first thing they did was to offer their new fragrance.Like Donna Tartt's books, like old orient. Like places and times you never knew, but they are there, as lively and beautiful as ever. I see why this is considered timeless. It has an enchanting quality about it that is gentle and alluring. It is ripe with the sweetness of vanilla and benzoin, further given complexity with incense, leather and sandalwood. Nothing like a good oriental spicy fragrance to put you in the mood for sweet nothings. Vintage Chantilly is certainly a scent for the richer ones, the older in body and mind, almost ritual, which unfolds slowly surprising you with a different aroma each time. It's for the woman who has accepted herself and is ready to search for deeper meanings in life. She is very mature, very classy woman who always wears Chanel couture, pantyhose. Envelop yourself in the classic Floral Oriental scent by showering with the luxurious Chantilly Body Wash, then moisturizing your skin with the Chantilly Body Lotion. Finish with a spritz of Chantilly Eau de Toilette to intensify the scent and help it last longer!
