About this deal

Unfortunately, you would be correct,” Holland confirmed, and I wondered if knowing and not being able to say anything was more frustrating than having no knowledge at all. The chemistry between Sera and Ash is so good (not surprising) and I really enjoyed the progression of their relationship in this book. I like that we still get to see them growing as individuals and as a duo – and how things aren’t always easy or straight forward. That they have to learn acceptance for themselves and for each other. It’s interesting how things seem so easy between the two of them, but at the same time, so difficult. The way they play each other, entice and goad each other – it’s so much fun and omfg I know it’s bad to be jealous of fictional characters, but…👀 A muscle throbbed in Nyktos’s temple. “I cannot love,” he bit out between clenched teeth, speaking to Holland. “I made sure that would never be a weakness someone could exploit.” Something told me that this was more than just him making such a claim. “And how can you ensure that?” Nothing could be gained from Nyktos’s expression. Unease took root. “What are you two even talking about?” I ignored that. “What will Kolis do if he realizes you’re shielding someone who carries the embers of life?” I demanded. “Or discovers that I carry Sotoria’s soul? What will he do to the Shadowlands? To those living here? I want to know what my presence will cost you.”

Did I expect him to say something else? That I mattered? To him? And that he cared for me, even though he couldn’t love? After what I’d plotted? I didn’t. Folks, straight up no words came to my mind beyond WOW and MASTERPIECE as I finished ALITF at 2:36 am. My mind was blown, and I was in awe of what I just read. Immediately time sped up, and my mind started buzzing with a hundred revelations, and endless ideas. I started frantically writing notes and questions. The fun didn’t end when the book did, it just kept on going in my mind! This was such a fantastic moment because I absolutely love when a book is closed, and then the theories and OMG moments take center stage in your brain. I still feel that joyful continuation of all the excitement, and hype leading up to it, and I’ll be pestering everyone I know to tell me when they finish because I MUST DISCUSS!! This is such a fantastic read. I laughed, I cried, I gasped and swooned, and I cherished all of it, reading several parts of the story multiple times just to take it all in. Something I need to say, and a lot of people might disagree with is how much I love that Sera is not out here wanting to experience and explore sex with others after meeting Ash (TWOTQ I am looking at you). She meets Primals, gods and even sees orgies and Nektas naked but not once did she feel anything. She never felt aroused by any of it and only and truly ever wanted Ash. She views him as if he is the peace and breath she always seeks. Which is how it should be in eyes, especially if their love is depicted as this GRAND and EPIC story. Also, they are either heartmates or soulmates and that in itself should equal to them wanting each other and it being more than enough.

Flesh and Fire - Recommended Reading Order

Nyktos’s head tilted, sending several strands of hair against his cheek. “You are the true Primal of Life, just as my father was. As Holland said, it’s a show of respect.”

We get a little easter egg about the Balfour family which as FBAA readers know is Poppy's last name. Gemma had been the first I’d heard use the word graeca. She’d said that Kolis had often spoken of his graeca and that she believed it was related to whatever he was doing with the missing Chosen who returned as something different and not quite right. Something cold. Lifeless. Hungry. His skin had thinned, and deep, dark shadows blossomed beneath his flesh, reminding me of how he’d appeared in his true form. His skin had been a kaleidoscope of midnight and moonlight, his wings much like a draken’s but made of a solid mass of eather—power. As for adorable baby Reaver, his presence is a blessing from heaven. I love him with all my heart. He's the cutest, sweetest little Draken boy and clearly cares about Sera like she's family. They are so wholesome and pure. I definitely need more of them in the next book.

Keep in Touch!

No, he cannot,” Holland interrupted. My head swung to him. “As I’ve said, there must always be balance. In everything—even among the Primals. Life cannot exist without Death, and they should not be one and the same.”

But you haven’t,” Holland returned. “You haven’t heard why he cannot save you as he is now.” He tilted his head to Nyktos. “Has she, Your Highness?” Before we go any further, a reminder once again, this review will contain major spoilers from book one, so please don't read past this point!!I completely understand that Sera was insistent on going to Kolis and continue with the initial plan that was set for Nyktos, but her instance also came about because she found herself being cared for. For the first time in her life someone actually cared about her wellbeing, someone is there for her if she wants to talk, simply put, someone is there for her.
