Reviewer Chris High said, "For first class spills, thrills, and adventure, Anthony Horowitz can be safely said to have cornered the modern market...influenced greatly by Ian Fleming's work." [2] Read Hot calls it a "must read for all teenagers". [3] The School Library Journal says, "Spy gadgets, chase scenes, mysteries, and a cliff-hanger ending will keep even reluctant readers interested in the second novel in this series." Booklist also says that Point Blanc is a great read for any reluctant teenager ready for a thrilling spy adventure. [4] Adaptation [ edit ] Andrew Buchan as Ian Rider (season 1), [2] an agent of the Department of Special Operations and Alex's uncle. David Friend • Smithers • James Sprintz • Michael J. Roscoe • Wolf • John Crawley • Fiona Friend • Julius Grief Alex also befriended Tom Harris, when he was six. Tom tells Kyra how he and Alex came to be best friends. Apparently, when he was six, Alex was being bullied by some older kids. Tom didn't protect him but, Alex 'stood up for himself like he always does.' Later, Tom had a laugh about it with Alex and they became friends. [20] In Crocodile Tears, he was hospitalized after having fractured his ankle and receiving burns from an exploding fuel drum. Otto Farrant as Alex Rider, [2] a highly skilled teenager who is recruited by the Department of Special Operations. Not much is known about Alex's mother, Helen, but because she knew about John's profession and loved John, it can be assumed that she cared a lot for Alex and was a loving mother in the three months she knew him. She died in a arranged plane crash because of her husband's risky profession, leaving behind her orphaned son. [15] Ian Rider Alex is fluent in several languages - as well as his native English, he speaks fluent French and Spanish, and some German. He also speaks basic Italian and Japanese. [12] [26] He has to pretend to be David Friend, a man with a lot of money's son, and go to the prestigious finishing school for rich and famous people's delinquent sons. But something is wrong there, and Alex senses it from day one, starting with that there are way too many guards with guns for a school with only seven students, and that two of the four floors are totally closed for the boys. Also the fact that the supposed drug taking, stealing boys all behave like angels except for one. In London, 14-year-old Alex Rider exposes a pair of drug dealers who have been operating in his school. Unfortunately for him – and them – his unauthorised use of a high-rise crane didn’t quite go according to plan, and the barge he’d been intending to deposit outside the local police HQ ended up falling through the roof of a new conference centre instead.

He's too good at what he does… too good at his job. And it's in his blood. It's rather odd. Most schoolboys dream of being spies. With Alex, we have a spy who dreams of being a schoolboy. John was very close to Alex and Helen as is apparent by the fact that he very much missed his family when he was away working for SCORPIA. Later, he resigned from MI6 to spend more time with his his son and his wife. He was on a family vacation with his wife when his plane was bombed and he and Helen died. [15] Helen Rider I've realised that I got kinda attached to Wolf so I hope there's more of him too. I think that's just because I read the graphic novel though, because I just have this very clear image of him and that always helps with liking a character.. Then Alex is in the mountains, undercover, trying to figure out what the evil genius is up to. What the evil genius was up to was no more absurd than the average Bond villain and a lot more original but it still turned my suspension of disbelief into a bungee jump.

Scorpia - He went on his own volition to find out about the criminal organisation, as well as his father's motive for supposedly joining them.Holbrook, Damian (3 December 2021). On 10 November 2020, the series was officially renewed for a second season and will adapt the Alex Rider book Eagle Strike. [10] [11] As of 12 May 2021, a third season was in development.
