The knight in the book made the dragon laugh. Can you make the dragon laugh too? Do you have some good jokes? Can you write them on our template and then try them out on your family, in person, on the phone or maybe on FaceTime. Did they make them laugh? Once they have the original titles and have a general idea of the content of each of the books you can move onto which one would they want to buy and why? Remember at this stage their choice is only based on part of the cover. What is your favourite book? Could your class make a set of posters to advertise your favourite books? Make sure everyone is listening before you begin. You should allocate a part of the room for telling stories. If you don’t have the luxury of moving tables, chairs or even children then have at least the ritual of clearing desks and so creating a change in the pace of the lesson. If you don’t have their undivided attention to begin with it will be a hard slog to get their attention while reading and you will spoil the experience for those who are trying to listen when you stop to tell others to listen.

I love shiny things! And every jewel thief loves treasures, just like the thief in the book. Can you find some small pebbles and stones and turn them into treasure? How about using pens or paints? Or even wrapping them in tinfoil? Records the default button state of the corresponding category & the status of CCPA. It works only in coordination with the primary cookie. Charlie Cook’s name has alliteration. Can you think of other names that have alliteration, e.g. Sally Smith, Harry Hopkins? Could you write a story about one of these? One of my television songs, A SQUASH AND A SQUEEZE, was made into a book in 1993, with illustrations by the wonderful Axel Scheffler. It was great to hold the book in my hand without it vanishing in the air the way the songs did. This prompted me to unearth some plays I’d written for a school reading group, and since then I’ve had 20 plays published. Most children love acting and it’s a tremendous way to improve their reading. Funnily enough, I find it harder to write not in verse, though I feel I am now getting the hang of it! My novel THE GIANTS AND THE JONESES is going to be made into a film by the same team who made the Harry Potter movies, and I have written three books of stories about the anarchic PRINCESS MIRROR-BELLE who appears from the mirror and disrupts the life of an otherwise ordinary eight-year-old. I have just finished writing a novel for teenagers.Look at the way this story is structured. Could you make your own version about a person who reads a book about a character who finds a book about an animal who steals a book… ?

El texto es sencillo y presenta diferentes fuentes y formatos que ayudan al lector a descubrir las múltiples formas de comunicación escrita; cómic, periódico, revistas, recetas, entre otros. I also continued to write “grown-up” songs and perform them in folk clubs and on the radio, and have recently released two CDs of these songs. My real breakthrough was THE GRUFFALO, again illustrated by Axel. We work separately - he’s in London and I’m in Glasgow - but he sends me letters with lovely funny pictures on the envelopes.

My favourite part of filming the video was the ghost head part. I had to enlist the help of my son to film it. It was lots of fun and we laughed a lot getting it right. Carry out a survey of your class / school to find out their favourite books / authors. Could you create a report about the results? Make sure before you begin to read that the seating is such that all the children can actually see the illustrations. You can slowly turn the book as you read from above. This takes practice. And lastly if your porridge was just right, how would you move? How would that make you feel? I think I’d be doing a happy dance! Los cuentos que son mencionados van desde los más conocidos como son "Ricitos de Oro" o "La princesita" hasta otros menos conocidos como "La rana Renata" o "El pirata Patapalo".

I love dressing up and had great fun re-creating the characters in the book. Can you grab your favourite book and dress up as the characters in it? Maybe you could try acting out the story or even making a little video like I did! Create a pirate telescope

What stories include those characters? What adventures might they have in this book? Relaxed Performances are provided for people who would benefit from a more relaxed environment, or are uncomfortable with sudden lighting changes or loud noises, including those with an Autistic Spectrum Condition, sensory or communication needs or a learning disability. Find out more here. Draw their attention to the title and the fact that it rhymes. You could try and think up other words which rhyme with book (hook, cook, look, took). Julia Donaldson y Axel Scheffler, creadores del aclamado "Grúfalo", se reúnen de nuevo para traer a las bibliotecas de los más pequeños un cuento diferente y divertido que hace homenaje a todas las historias infantiles clásicas.

The book itself includes an extended range of verbs in the past tense such as ‘curled up’, ‘read’, ‘found’, ‘cried’, ‘went’, ‘told’, ‘shook’, ‘jumped’, ‘built’, ‘chose’, ‘saw’, ‘waved’, ‘stole’, ‘caught’… This is just a selection. You could select a few from throughout the book and get the class to tell you which story they hear the verb in. Before Malcolm and I had our three sons we used to go busking together and I would write special songs for each country; the best one was in Italian about pasta. Every pirate needs a telescope to help them find the treasure. Can you make one using the list of things below; The Bearo Annual' featured Sir Percy Pilkington and a dragon, who laughed at Sir Percy reading a joke aloud. 'Just Joking!' was a book about Rowena Reddalot (great name - must be on goodreads!), a well-read frog, who leapt into the library to discover a little girl reading. Rowena jumped onto the book screaming, 'Reddit! Reddit! Reddit!'.

What was the ghost's book about? It was about a cosy armchair and boy called Charlie Cook … and he's still reading!
