About this deal

When warming Dr. Brown’s bottles, remove the internal parts first (the vent insert and reservoir tube). This helps prevent pressure build up and leaks during warming. It’s okay to leave the nipple and collar on the bottle loosely, or alternatively, use the Dr. Brown’s Travel Cap. As much as we’re all for high-tech baby gear, there’s something to be said for a simple analog design that doesn’t require six re-reads of the manual to master. Philips Avent is a staple in the baby gear space and the brand’s Premium Fast Bottle Warmer is an affordable water bath solution for heating up breastmilk and formula, thawing frozen breastmilk, or warming baby food. The straightforward interface relies on a simple dial with eight settings to choose from. Why We Like It: A goof-proof interface makes this a user-friendly option for sleep-deprived parents in the early days of baby life. Plus the affordable price point means it’s accessible for many. The design is as sleek and compact as the bottle warmer and very stylish for your kitchen. It also has a timer and a memory function to repeat the last setting used. So, what about microwaves? Well, the American Academy of Pediatrics specifically says that microwave warming is a no-go. That’s because while the bottle may feel cool after nuking it, the liquid inside can actually be really hot. And it heats liquid as unevenly as that frozen meal you made for lunch; one part is tongue-burning hot while the next still has ice crystals. Plus, the composition of breast milk in particular may change if it’s warmed up too much.

Be prepared for a little trial and error to get the temperature right, based on our experience with this product in the lab. You choose various bottle sizes on the screen, but it’s only preset to even numbered quantities, so if you want to warm 3 ounces of milk or formula(which was our testing standard), you’ll have to subtract from the 4-ounce setting or add to the 2-ounce option. That meant that at first, our refrigerated formula got a little too hot (106 degrees) after four minutes, and on the second try, it was less than the ideal temperature after two and a half minutes. In practice, that just means you’d get it just right after three feedings. You do also need to watch out for that steam heat, which real-world users shared can burn you when removing the warm bottle from the device if you’re not careful. Simply select the corresponding milliliters or ounces, or select the thaw or baby food choice, pour water into the reservoir, and insert the bottle, breast milk container, or baby food jar. Tap the button and it’s ready to go. Total runtime will vary depending on the size you selected but our tester was able to warm 3 ounces of milk in just under four minutes. While Philips suggests using its bottles, our lab tester felt that any bottle could fit in this warmer, as long as it didn’t have a flared base. Tomomi Hayashi, MD, of Stanford Medicine Children’s Health Pediatrics gave us expert advice to develop our testing methodology. Some parents say it's hard to use this warmer because you need to set the dial for the amount of liquid you're warming, and also make sure that the water is at the right level. That can be hard to do in the middle of the night or while holding a crying baby. We love Dr. Brown’s bottle warmer because it is compatible with many bottle brands. Though it’s great if you have Dr. Brown’s bottles to use alongside, it’s still not a problem if you’re using any other brand, provided it is not ComoTomo and Tommee tippee. ComoTomo and Tommee Tippee bottles are too wide for Dr. Brown’s Botlle Warmer. Kinde Kozii bottle warmer uses a water bath to heat bottles and won’t burn you like steam warmers. This bottle warmer is safe for children, easy to clean, and has a consistent milk temperature. Before diving into the warming process, ensure the bottle is clean and ready. Wash it thoroughly using warm soapy water or a dishwasher, and sterilize it if needed. Once the bottle is prepped, pour the desired milk or formula into it. Ensure you have cleaned it thoroughly because your baby’s health comes first. Step 2: Add water to the reservoir Yet, Dr. Brown’s Bottle Warmer heats milk faster than Kiinde Kozii Bottle Warmers. Another downside is that this bottle warmer is more expensive than Dr. Brown’s, and it’s not ideal for parents on a budget. Also, the timer may be challenging to hear when the heating cycle is complete. Philips Avent Bottle Warmer

Kate Arquilla, MS, RN, CBC, a former NICU nurse and founder of BumbleBaby, a lactation and postpartum support consultancy that also provides assistance with sleep training, spoke to us about breast milk and formula best practices. It’s important to never thaw or heat breast milk in a microwave,” Arquilla says, “A microwave can create hot spots in the milk; not only can those destroy nutrients in the milk, but it can be dangerous if the baby were to sip from a hot spot. It can burn the baby’s mouth.” Similarly, leaving a bottle or storage bag of breast milk to thaw in a bath of too-hot water can also diminish the nutrients in it, so it’s best to let your milk thaw in the refrigerator and to bring it to a drinkable temperature without overheating it if you’re not using a bottle warmer.

Baby’s hungry and it’s T-minus a few minutes before it turns to hangry – but do you feed them a bottle straight from the fridge, or do you take the time to warm it up? Some little ones are perfectly fine with a cold bottle, while others just have to have it warmed to perfection.

The heating time for this warmer is not provided, and it may take quite a long time to heat your baby food compared to Dr. Brown’s Bottle Warmer, which is electricity dependent. Anself 2 in 1 Portable Double Bottle Warmer You can warm a bottle of mixed formula in the same way that you would a bottle of breast milk using a bottle warmer or warm water bath (or by using the Baby Brezza Instant Advanced Warmer listed above!) but Arquilla states that it is not recommended to pre-mix formula and freeze it for later use.. Auto shutoff: Yes | Temperature display: No | Heat settings: Multiple | Special features: Indicator light shows heating progress, wide opening fits most bottles and jars | Type of heat: Water bath | Bottle compatibility: Fits most bottles But Take Note: Milk got a little too hot in our plastic bottle test, so you’ll need to monitor heating time closely at first. The last thing you need when your baby is wailing is a complicated bottle warmer. The Philips Avent bottle warmer streamlines the process by giving you a big button to push and a familiar dial knob that you can rotate to the correct temperature setting. It aims to heat 5 ounces of milk in about three minutes. If you’re in the middle of a diaper change or some other baby task, this warmer will keep the bottle heated to the right temperature for up to an hour. The wide mouth of the warmer means it can accommodate chunkier bottles, as well as food pouches and baby jars. Moms who want an even faster way of warming their baby’s milk because they can’t stand to hear their baby cry may want to consider the Philips Avent bottle warmer. It can heat 5 ounces of milk in about 3 minutes, which is a little faster than the Dr. Brown warmer can do it. Kiinde Kozii Bottle Warmer Cost: Of course, the cost is always a consideration. For the price, you might simply prefer heating bottles some other way and calling it a day. Another option is getting a second hand warmer if you’re not sure how much use you’ll get from it.
