I’ve found this new style of matt to be very high quality and puncture resistant, so you should be able to use them for multiple children. As a diaper changer, the Keekaroo Peanut is basically the “creme de la creme” because you can put it anywhere from a changing table to next to your bed thanks to its safety features that include a sturdy base and safety strap. Depending on your child’s height, their legs might be too long to comfortably lay on the changing pad without their feet hanging off the end.

While you can technically use any space to change a diaper, a changing pad is a beneficial addition to any household because it reduces the mess and makes changing time easier on the baby and parent. What sets a changing pad apart from, say, a blanket or towel is that it’s typically waterproof, resistant to stains and provides a soft and safe space for your child. Is A Portable Changing Pad Necessary? Unfortunately, I haven’t had a chance to use a Skip Hop Nursery Style Change Pad. There are a lot of things parents don’t realize they need until they actually need them and a portable changing pad is one of them. More specifically, the Keekaroo Peanut Changer is a strong contender diaper changer for a pad that you can use for your infant and take with you on the go if need be or simply use at home to keep everything clean and safe.

While the Keekaroo is the original, Bumbo is like the original Keekaroo Peanut dupe. And while they look super similar at first glance, there are some key differences you’ll want to consider before purchasing.

It’s about half the price, and made of a similar material, though tbh, it’s more of a Leander Matty changer dupe than a Keekaroo dupe. Because the material cannot be easily penetrated, there’s less of a chance of bacteria build-up or mold. The shape and design of the changing pad make it comfortable for your baby to allow you to change their diaper every time instead of trying to squirm away. It’s made of a synthetic rubber material (polyurethane polymer elastomer) – the same material Keekaroo uses in their infant inserts, boosters, and cushions. But Take Note: Some kids may rebel against the strap and wriggle onto their stomach out of protest.

Is the Keekaroo Peanut Changer worth it?

If you’re at all familiar with the Bumbo Seat, then you’ll probably respond just as well to the Bumbo Changing Pad , which seems to be made of a similar durable foam material. It has contoured support on two sides to keep your baby safely within the short walls of the pad and you can use it for diaper changes or even just for playtime on the floor since it’s that comfortable.

It’s also free from a number of chemicals you likely don’t want near your child’s nether regions, including BPA, PVC, formamide, PBDE flame retardant, and phthalates. In a head-to-head comparison of the Leander Matty vs Keekaroo Peanut vs Bumbo vs Hatch, the Leander Matty and Peanut Changer are pretty much tied as “overall best.” Frankly, I can see why both are so popular, and both seem like an awesome choice. Why We Like It: This cushy, visually appealing peanut can sit atop any dresser, replacing the need for a changing table. However, the Leander Changing Mat is actually softer to the touch than the Keekaroo in my experience. Whereas my Keekaroo’s surface is slightly textured to the touch, my Leander Matty changer is smooth like butter when I run my hand over it. It seems like it would be far more comfortable for naked and delicate baby skin vs the slight texture of the Keekaroo. (worth noting, the Bumbo is also super smooth).When it’s colder outside, the pad is naturally cooler to the touch, which can be uncomfortable for some infants but you can warm it up with a warm water pad. What if I were to tell you that there is a way to get a brand new Keekaroo peanut changer for a fraction of the cost? The real strengths of the Bumbo, in my opinion, are that it’s light enough to move around for diaper changes in different spots around the house, you can often find it with a more affordable price tag than some competitors. However, there are plenty of safe, comfortable and easy to clean changing pads that are also affordable, so don't feel any pressure to spend more than you want to.
