Pandemic Legacy Season Zero also adds just a little more light-heartedness to its gameplay. Unlike in the other Legacies, you aren’t burdened with the worry that cities could be wiped from the map. And you don’t have to worry that your character could just die. Don’t get me wrong, this game is steeped with tension, but there is just so much more room for fun. There is also a huge sense of world-building throughout. As in every legacy game every action has its consequence, which ripples throughout the game. Now you have even more autonomy. From better personalisation on your character passports to cards of questions from your ‘senior officer’, Season 0 is all the best bits of previous games brought into one.

Gameplay is straightforward, with each unique investigator – a number of familiar faces from Arkham Horror and Eldritch Horror make an appearance – moving around, interacting with objects and, when it comes to it, fighting off otherworldly creatures.Also remember that Share Knowledge works for giving or taking a card. So on my turn, I can use an action to give the Sydney card to my friend who is also in Sydney; or, on their turn, they can use an action to take the Sydney card from me. There’s no need to worry… you’re experienced at this. Contain and cure the four diseases that have broken out around the world, ensuring this is an isolated event and that the world will return to normal. However, this time things are different and the board won’t reset at the end of the game. What happens now will affect what will follow. This is Pandemic Legacy. Pandemic’s Legacy As investigators working the Antares National Investigation Agency, it’s the players’ duty to identify the culprits behind a series of crimes that all seem to be somehow connected. Across the entire Detective campaign you’ll play through five different cases, with each one providing its own set of challenges to overcome using the clues you collect and the suspects you interrogate. Whenever players come across something they can’t seem to find the answer to, they can turn to the game’s dedicated app to search for the information that might just provide the breakthrough they needed. Throughout the co-op board game, you’ll need to share notes, clues and evidence with one another, collating everything you have to help you unravel each mystery and eventually put all the pieces together. There’s a good reason for Gloomhaven’s widespread acclaim; it’s a brilliant melding of fantasy roleplaying in the vein of Dungeons & Dragons, innovative legacy gaming a la Pandemic Legacy, crunchy combat straight out of a complex strategy game and good old-fashioned dungeon-crawling in the lineage of HeroQuest.

Due to the theme you will not only be combating the pathogen but also enemy agents who seek to disrupt your work and cause world chaos. As it is a prequel you do not have to have played the previous Pandemic Legacy games to enjoy Season 0 but be warned - you may end up buying the other two after completing this one.We had to push ourselves to find new and interesting mechanisms and storytelling structure so that this felt different than the other two games.
