Description

Instrumental test on bleached hair after five applications of pre-shampoo + shampoo + conditioner Step 3: Apply hair serum The ingredients and components of this product are sourced from suppliers committed to respect the fundamental principles of the UN on labor standards.

The first step in caring for weakened hair bonds is using a pre-shampoo specifically designed for hair bond repair. This step can be carried out once or twice per week, or every time you wash your hair for additional support. The Elvive Bond Repair Pre-Shampoo Rescue Treatmenthas 12% bond repair complex, making it a highly efficacious step in your hair bond repair routine. Combined with citric acid, this formula helps to reinforce inner broken hair bonds by penetrating deeply and strengthening the hair fibre from within. For shiny hair that’s soft to the touch, apply pre-shampoo generously to damp hair, using a comb to evenly disperse the product from root to tip. Rinse after five minutes.

Some of the hair’s bonds are strong and some are weak. The weak bonds (hydrogen and salt are the weaker hair bonds) are typically affected by water, heat and chemicals. While disulfide bonds are stronger, things like aggressive chemical treatments, bleach and hair color can weaken them. In a journal shared by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), bleached hair demonstrated substantial damage to the cuticle layers and to the cortex, the inner part of your hair shaft that makes up the hair bonds. Under a microscope, our hair is made up of protein chains linked together with bonds. These bonds can be compromised when hair is exposed to treatments like lightening, relaxing or perming, and even everyday acts like brushing and heat styling can cause wear and tear. Now that your hair is strong and reinforced, move on to styling as usual. The L’Oréal Paris EverPure Bond Strengthening system protects from future damage so that you can color and style your hair without worry, but if you’re reaching for your hot tools you always want to protect your strands by spritzing with heat protectant first. We suggest the L’Oréal Paris EverPure Sulfate-Free Weightless Blow Dry Primer, Heat Protectant, as it smooths hair for a sleek style while shielding it against heat up to 450 degrees.

If you've been experimenting with hair colour just as much as I have, chances are, you already know that bond builders (or bond repair treatments) and hair processing should go hand in hand. We get it, nothing quite compares to the beauty of a good ol' hair transformation, whether it's a balayage, highlights or a full-head bleach. But dealing with the aftermath of all the breakage and damage that might follow is far from fun. Every consumer product has some impact on the environment. A good score here does not mean a product has a positive impact or no impact on the environment. The letters and colors used in this tool are designed to help you make comparisons to other similar products in L'Oréal's global portfolio, so you can make more informed choices.

Does L’Oréal Bond Repair work?

Each of the three products contains citric acid, a good-for-hair ingredient known for clearing excess sebum and debris on the scalp, and balancing pH. According to the NCBI, citric acid helps to neutralize the pH of hair care products, bringing it down to 5.5. This is important because in another study by the NCBI, an alkaline pH of 7 or higher can cause more friction between the hair (amongst themselves), which can lead to breakage and damage to the hair cuticle.
