It’s not all about being a ride-on though, Violet is really into animals at the moment and loves caring for her unicorn like it’s a pet. She hasn’t quite mastered the word ‘unicorn’ so always says ‘Horsie, Horsie’ (which sounds like Haa-hee, haa-hee) as she plays, pretends to brush and wash her unicorn. It’s very cute. The Clementoni Interactive Ride on Unicorn is available from toys shops including Smyths for around RRP 39.99, which I think is really reasonable for this type of large toy.

The fact that it has dual function plus the interactive element makes it a great Christmas idea for kids. The fact that it’s a unicorn is the icing on the Christmas cake!

THE ASSEMBLY

There is some assembly required, although it’s not too taxing as long as you distract your kids for 10 minutes while you do it. Items that are not available in store will take 3-5 working days (excluding weekends and bank holidays) to be delivered to your nominated store. When we were invited to put the new Baby Clementoni Interactive Ride on Unicorn to the test, I knew straight away that Neve was going to be a fan, and couldn’t wait for it to arrive! The activity centre has lots of lights, colours, sounds, buttons and catchy tunes to keep your little ones entertained for hours. The sounds are in either English or Spanish (Violet seems to love the Spanish for some reason, maybe it’ll teach her a few words!) and the buttons teach things like ABC, numbers, animal names, sounds and colours. Violet especially loves when her unicorn asks her to give it a cuddle and to stroke it’s mane, she always leans in for a cuddle and gives her a big kiss. She also loves the light-up star on her forehead. The unicorn plays catchy tunes to dance along to as well with sensors to detect movement, so starts to talk and sing when your little one is near.

They're based in convenient locations including supermarkets, newsagents and train stations. Plus they're often open late and on Sundays. The seat sensor recognizes when the child is sitting by offering fun music. Full of functions for interaction with sounds, music, songs and words but also many mechanical activities for the development of manual skills. The main body of the horse is intact in the box, but you need to attach the wheels, which requires a little bit of strength but I managed quite easily on my own. These activate lights, sounds, nursery rhymes and songs which N really enjoys and they fuel her imagination while playing, as she copies the phrases like “hold on tight!” and loves to sing along to the songs. The electronic mane teaches kids their ABCs, numbers and colours, plus a few Spanish words if you fancy changing the language! The girls loved the realistic horse noises. My verdictAlby has also taken to using the unicorn as a walker helping him to take some steps across the room.
