Description

Along with containing very well-balanced and fleshed out forces for both armies, both the Skaven and Sylvaneth include some new models which have never been seen before. For the Skaven army, that's a model called Deathmaster. A Deathmaster is a master assassin of the Skaven, and their blades are poisoned with toxins from Clan Eshin. The Deathmaster waits for the perfect moment to strike in Warhammer Echoes of Doom A supercharged alternative to Warp Lightning, Karandras Green is one of the most intense Contrast paints in the whole range.

To this point, the addition of the new flying units that increase mobility for a profile less damaging than a Kurnoth but still interesting, gives new arrows in your quiver. The Gossamid Archers are an alternative ranged unit, not as powerful or long-ranged as the Kurnothi but they are faster, cheaper and can fly. I spent most of my time painting the focal areas, such as the face and gold. To balance out this time investment, I painted other areas, such as the wood, very simply, with just one or two fast highlights. Where they really will come in to their own is as a screen. After performing Unleash Hell they can immediately retreat on a 2+. With their 12″ movement this grants a lot of flexibility. They’ll be basically impossible to charge reliably for many opponents, who will be left holding the bag as their troops sit in the middle of the field with nothing to hit, and you follow up with your own charge next turn. 215 isnt a bad price for them either, their role is just exceedingly specific and niche. The Spirit of Durthu

What's Included In The Warhammer Echoes of Doom Book?

The Sylvaneth are the forest spirits created from soulpods by Alarielle, Queen of the Radiant Wood, in the Age of Myth. A vivid alternative to Aethermatic Blue, this acts as a partner to Pylar Glacier, giving you even more choices in the blue range of the spectrum. Lizzie: A regal and rich blue, with deep tones that seep into the recesses. This is perfect for making those Stormcast Eternals look fit to serve Sigmar. Walk the Spirit Path (Triple, all Tree-Revenants): Remove this fighter from the battlefield and place it anywhere on the battlefield floor, 5” from any enemy fighter. The recent Sylvaneth release added several new units to the woodland warriors, including bug-mounted Spiterider Lancers and the terrifyingly tentacled Lady of Vines . Veteran Sylvaneth commander – and expert painter – Andy Wardle grabbed all these new additions for his army, and wanted to show them off to the world.

As leaders they have access to Envoy of the Everqueen to increase Toughness and Strength of friendly fighters. A horde of cheap Tree-Revenants, with Strength and Toughness 6, can now punch much higher than their weight while the Kurnoth can become devastating and very tough.Lizzie: Contrast paints are an incredible tool for any painter. Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced hobbyist, these paints are easy to use and highly versatile – allowing you to create a number of fantastic effects.

Thanks for the insight Lizzie! Many of these new paints differ from the bulk of the existing Contrast range in exciting new ways, opening up many possibilities for painters, new and old. Lizzie: A firm favourite of mine, this is great for creating ghostly skin. This looks great over a White Scar undercoat to make your Nighthaunt suitably spooky! There is just so much to love about this new set. The value here is going to be massive, with both armies getting a huge influx of models in exactly the way each army needs them. For the Sylvaneth, having a new hero, a new set of archers, the Kurnoth Hunters and a Spirit of Durthu (a huge, hulking tree monster) gives the heft and fighting power you need to round out a force of fighting vegetation. For the Skaven, along with the new Deathmaster and the massive Grey Seer on Screaming Bell, you also just get a TON of rats. What I love about this box most of all is the pairing of these two armies. I've always thought that Skaven and Sylvaneth would make wonderful mortal enemies, and seeing them pitted against each other in these fun, inventive Battleplans is a real treat. All in all, I can't recommend Warhammer Echoes of Doom highly enough for anyone interested in either army. The Lady of Vines in all her painted glory. Image: Games Workshop Should I Buy Warhammer Echoes of Doom? Lizzie: As majestic as Sigvald himself, this is a really vibrant colour that shades and highlights effortlessly. Naturally, I’ve tried this on the Prince himself and I can confirm – he heartily approves. Sitting next to Volupus Pink, but even richer, this colour comes close to the intensity of Screamer Pink, but with the unique flow of contrast.Lizzie: A bold and brash paint with subtle darker tones, this is really versatile. Of course, it’s ideal for those Aeldari Striking Scorpions, but it’s brilliant for glazing onto eye lenses and gemstones to create glowing effects. At 170 points I think he’s probably just a bit too expensive. He might gel better in the new book though, Games Workshop articulated in the recent preview they see Skaven as a high risk, high reward army so the wide damage range might fit in just fine. It’s also going to depend on how subfaction affinity is going to work in the upcoming book. Clanrats The Kurnoth Hunters are between the most expensive fighters in the Sylvaneth Warband, but also the most versatile.
