While the traditional Henry has an A class energy efficiency rating, other models don’t match it. The worst is actually the Harry, which has a C class energy efficiency rating. It is important because a higher consumption vacuum cleaner will use more, costing you more in power. They aren’t as environmentally friendly either, so if being E-friendly is important to you the basic Henry is the better model. Size & Shape

I was expecting there to be more dust and debris removed from the very centre of the floor head, but surprisingly, the entire width of the floor head seemed to vacuum up the dirt evenly. Upon closer inspection, it appears that there is a clever channel designed into the head, which ensures that debris flows up through it from the entire surface area. The Hetty is not as bulky as you think (or at least as I thought prior to purchasing one). In fact, I found it easy to store in a number of different places in my home, which was something I was concerned about because we are very limited on space. Once the wand was removed, I was able to slot it into a wardrobe, under the stairs, and on top of a washing machine. The Hetty also uses HepaFlo bags. These are considerably more durable than regular paper bags and also hold plenty of dirt and dust. They also act as a first line of defence against allergens escaping into the air. Even though the Hetty does require bags – which, on paper, might look like a bit of a concession – we found it to be surprisingly more convenient to empty than the Dyson hoover we regularly use. With bagless vacuums, it’s easy to accidentally spill and even breathe dust when you’re trying to empty them. Thanks to the way the bags have been designed, they’re sealed before they ever leave the hoover, meaning that you’ll be much less likely to have those kinds of issues. Closing Thoughts One area where Numatic vacuums stand out is reliability. The Hetty vacuum’s motor is built for professional cleaning, so it’s designed to last. In fact, we rate Numatic models as among the most reliable in the industry. Suction Power and Performance

However, while it’s designed for the wet, this also excels in the dry. An impressive 15 litre storage capacity when dry makes it an ideal option for professional cleaners, but it is also light at only 7.1kgs and will be easy to get around the home.Speaking of the upholstery brush, this is the attachment that is best suited for cleaning chairs, sofas, car seats, and stairs. Basically, anything that has a pretty flat surface that is too small to use the main floor tool should be vacuumed using the upholstery brush. I found it really effective on the stairs, as the bristles are great at agitating the dust and dirt whilst also reaching the very corner of the steps. Upholstery Brush Before and After Hetty has a useful handle attachment, meaning you can attach the tools you need when cleaning and access them nice and easily. Some Hetty models come with an extra extension hose, which enable you to take the suction point right to the top of the stairs with Hetty sat at the bottom. Even if you don’t get the extra extension hose, Hetty already has a very long hose that is longer than most cylinder vacuums. Haven’t you always wanted a cleaner who could do pretty much everything? If so, George could be the man for you. Big green and friendly he’s great in the dry happy cleaning up spills, or scrubbing away stubborn stains. There is nothing he can’t handle. The crevice tool is attached to the hose using the univeral adapter (which comes in the box), and all it takes is a bit of a push to jam everything together. Once you turn the Hetty on with this tool attached, it is significantly louder than with just the regular floor head attached, so this is not an attachment to use when the kids are asleep next door. However, this increase in decibels is simply due to the fact that all of that power is now being funneled through a very slim attachment, which means that the suction power through this crevice tool is immense.

As we mentioned earlier in the review, we don’t think the Hetty is the most convenient vacuum to use around the home. It’s quite bulky and heavy, plus the circular design can be awkward to use. There are still some handy ease of use features included though, such as: If you’re looking for a sturdy vacuum cleaner with a huge capacity, large cleaning radius and strong suction, the Numatic Hetty HET 160 is an option to consider – especially if your home has mainly hard floors. It’s also a reliable machine, so you probably won’t need to worry about it breaking down. There are a variety of considerations to be made before you make your final choice from the Henry vacuum range. Things like colour, shape, and whether or not it can handle cleaning up after your dog are important!

Handling

Just to clarify, by Henry we’re talking about the HVR160 vacuum, most commonly seen as the red Henry, but also available in blue, green and yellow, and by Hetty we mean the pink HET160, both made by Numatic. Quite simply, apart from the colour, there is NO DIFFERENCE. Both vacuum cleaners have exactly the same specification. Everyone struggling with storage space needs to consider size limitations before they buy from the Henry vacuum cleaner range. The smaller models will work best for smaller homes – but come with less dust bin capacity. We recommend the Henry Micro for smaller homes. The largest of the Henry vacuums is the George, which is a 4-in-1… although the Charles comes close.
