Description

The speed buttons have been rationalised down to one, reverse is now a secondary function on the start/stop button. It also looks like the start speed control has gone, and the remaining brake control has moved to the rear panel. No great loss there.

Most interesting for me is the revised layout, where the plethora of controls have been moved, rationalised, or done away with completely. One start/stop button has gone, and in its place is a 45 adaptor. As a right-handed scratcher, I will miss the power button under my thumb, but for Dicer owners, this is a great move. Still, on the turntable construction, you need to know that it is a heavyweight with durable and quality components. It weighs 40 plus pounds, making it a super reliable device of choice. The turntable consists of steel and rubber, and you can never go wrong with such a caliber device. While this ensures that the device achieves maximum support and compatibility, the rubber used will help in reducing the damping effects. It will be hard to hear vibrations when on use. Both models deliver exceptional audio quality, providing clear and accurate sound reproduction. The ST-150 MK2, with its improved motor isolation system and reinforced tonearm base, further enhances the overall audio performance by minimizing unwanted noise and vibrations, resulting in a cleaner and more detailed sound output. Slopped strobe light is good, a little dim on the top row of dots but nothing that should cause alarm The Pioneer PLX 1000 and ST.150 are both super OEM turntables, and that means both have super study motors. However, the Stanton has been there for years, meaning the performance and efficiency have been tried and tested. When it comes to finishing, pioneer seems to have perfected the art more. Features

A digital out– There is a digital coaxial out for plugging straight into SPDIF digital equipment for recording (eg high-end sound cards, computers) You might be able to find an older used receiver with a built-in phono preamp. But, if you don't need the whole receiver the bulk might be an issue (Somebody gave me their old receiver when they upgraded to "home theater".)

hands on it performs well, no issues to speak of. I had to dial in my counterweight all the way to keep the Shure M44-7 performing well. Of course if stanton corrects the counterweight issue this will not be needed. However, it is worth noting that the MK1 turntable still holds its ground as a reliable option. It continues to be a popular choice, particularly for DJs who are on a tighter budget or who don’t require the specific enhancements offered by the MK2 model. The MK1 version provides a solid foundation for DJing and delivers excellent performance for its price point. The Stanton ST.150 is a turntable that is designed for professional DJs and vinyl enthusiasts. It features a high-torque direct-drive motor which provides accurate and stable rotation for precise mixing and scratching. The turntable has adjustable pitch control, allowing DJs to fine-tune the speed of the platter for beatmatching. If you can't stretch to the Shure, consider models you can afford from the likes of Ortofon, Audio-Technica, Goldring, Grado, Sumiko, and probably others I've forgotten. Get a model that has an elliptical (or fine-line) stylus. On the other hand, if you are starting out as a DJ or have a limited budget, the Stanton ST-150 MK1 remains a solid option. It provides a reliable and robust turntable experience with excellent build quality and good performance. The MK1 model has garnered a strong reputation among DJs over the years and continues to be a reliable choice for many. has 33 , 45 and 78 RPM. You select the desired speed by toggling through the selections. Hold down the speed button and it turns off the strobe If you just want a turntable for ripping vinyl with, spending this kind of money makes no sense – get a decent belt-drive (Stanton do a couple of good ones themselves). But if you want to add analogue to your set-up for actual DJing, you need a proper direct-drive turntable. For the digital DJ, who may only be adding one turntable to a home studio set-up for sampling or mixing the odd piece of vinyl rather than full vinyl DJ sets, you’re getting the best of both worlds here.

They are part of the Stanton Group, and as of now, are owned by Gibson guitars, although why we don’t know. Nevertheless, despite Gibson’s involvement, Stanton continues to produce quality equipment. Some of these designs are for professional DJs, and turntables are one of their product lines. All in all I think this will be a good option for both the home and club/mobile DJ. The price is right and you can usually find them cheaper if you can barter with your choice of vendor. The new look is great, the tables perform very well and the sound is good. It’s a hanpin yes, but Stanton made some nice improvements over the previous model which are sure to bring a smile to your face. When it comes to performance, ST.150 is not the usual turntable. It raises the performance bar high. It has a direct drive motor that boosts the performance to three times, compared to the previous model. Being the most muscular torque motor so far and with excellent electric brake, controlling the device becomes easy.I have a basic understanding of how each one works on a mechanical/electrical level, but as I've never had hands-on experience with a moving-coil (and only one moving-magnet, the aforementioned Shure M97xe), I'm curious as to what the actual audible differences are between the two technologies, generally speaking. I haven't been in the market for this stuff in quite a few years, so don't have any specific recommendations... Stanton Magnetics was founded by Walter Stanton in 1946. Originally they were involved in manufacturing audio equipment for consumer use. But as more professional products began to be required, they focused much of their energy on this developing market. Their turntables have become recognized as some of the best available. Can’t argue with that – although I’d add, every “audiophile” turntable I’ve ever owned has had a straight tonearm, so the sound quality differences must be pretty academic.
